well they did it last thursday and ever since i've been offline
Rechecked and confirmed all login details and settings with Orange TS (x3) and they insisted that these were correct and that i should be connected.
Ok fine i thought. They suggested diasbling all virus and firewall software.
done that... no connection.
Now i have a dlink 604+ router and Orange said that this equipment is incompatable with the new speeds. Fine i though i'll use the original supplied speedtouch modem. still no connection.
When i say no connection i mean to say that both modems report an adsl connection but the speed touch says error 721 - username and password error. The dlick device reported an adsl connection but no lcp connection.
phoned again saying my user name and password arent being recognised. I reconfirmed the above with them again. Tried it again , no connections. Every time i phone Orange they insist on going through there script of how to rectify this problem.
Wife took over and this morning they admitted it was a problem at there end and that a line test would be ordered. So in 24hours we supposed to ring back.
Familiar pattern eh?
After reading all these posts i find myself in same position. Before the upgrade everything was fine. i want to revert back to the BT backbone.
Failing that i'll leave Orange. Really fed up with a poor customer service.
My local exchange is wallington, surrey. From what i understand , BE and Sky are there.
Oh i dont know , just need to get this problem aired and off my chest.
Its just completely fustrating dealing with Orange
just to complete the information
my speed was 1mb, as this was what my line was only capable of supporting. My Orange package is starter pack. "free broadband" which came with the Orange mobiles we have.

Try this:
Orange Wanadoo Broadband
Unable to connect
problems connecting try this: remove @fs from user name and replace with @bb2.freeserve.co.uk
The FS gateway is a `virtual gateway` just putting you on the `actual gateway` which has the least traffic on it at a particular time.
The actual gateways being.
BB,BB1,BB2,BB3,BB4
Orange Wanadoo Broadband

If bb2 does not work try the other ones above.
Keith
I was always on bb4 and it was a reliable service. I switched to @fs on Orange's website advice. I've tried using bb4 again and it is on bb4 that I achieve my 2.7Mb connection
Methinks you are wasting your time .... i had exactly the same "upgrade" problems... Orange blame it on everything but their own equipment, yet ive already had 3 Orange staff members tell me it is their LLU equipment which is causing the problems. One of them even told me it was CRAP !! so what chance have we got if the people who run it think its crap? .... none i suggest.
Get out while you can and go to someone who can provide you with a SERVICE ....this country appears to be losing touch with this word nowadays...
i also think its about time we had some feedback from Orange in this site... i know a LOT of their staff read these pages ( and some even sympathise ) but they are very conspicuous by their absense ...so..........
Here is a challenge Orange..... Give us your answers IN WRITING....that way we will know you are not hiding anything.... Maybe ALCATEL can give some replies also as i believe it is they who provide the LLU equipment ....Personally i would be VERY interested to read ANY response from Orange in here...
We tried the bb,bb1 etc already using the Orange settings above but to no avail.
I tried all avenues i think to get anything wrong myside checked out.
Clearly its an Orange side fault as my service (while not fast) was stable enough to use pre LLU.
My dlink device has a handy feature of telling you most things about the adsl signal. Its says its connected but i have the error of "no lcp connection"
download speed is around the 1.1mb mark. upload speed of 288
So clearly there is an adsl connection just no access to the Orange network.
completely fed up.
just to ask about cancellation
if i close all faults that are logged and then ask for the MAC code would that work any quicker?
also would i have to goto another llu provider because i've been unbundled?
Would i be considered out of contract now that i get it free with my mobile contract ? i was a freeserve/wanadoo/orange customer for years
came home from work with a determined head on. I went straight to the PC tried to connect and nothing.....
Changed the @bb# setting to @bb4 and it worked. Now we tried this in the morning yesterday and it didnt work. not to count my blessings , saved any configurations.did a restore point on all pc's so i know it works with current setups and if it didnt work in the future i have a known start point.
Went to use this afternoon and nothing.
BUT i have an older XP laptop and it could connect. Now im not sure why this pc can connect and the others cant. I ran DrTCP , checked the MTU settings. set to 1500 as Orange likes and still nothing.
broadband speed last night/ this morning 4.3mb. this evening 1.1 and a upload speed of 256.
Anyone got any suggestions as to why the other 2 PC's cant connect?
So i think Orange sorted the problem out quietly but then i must have a misconfiguration on the 2 PC's. However it was fine this morning.
lost the telephone service now which after scouting around points towards a exchange fault. Phoned up the telephone provider (toucan) and fault raised. That was in the morning , so i phoned back in the afternoon for a fault progression. Pleasantly surprised to say that the engineer was on site at the exchange and indicated it was fault at the exchange. no doubt something to do with Orange. Which may explain random disconnects and slow speeds and no home phone.
hmmm.... ntl cable service sounds nice. AT least theres no Orange involvement....
Apparently ,so the nice kind BT engineer told me, oranges BB equipment caused a small burnout within the exchange. It destroyed not oranges equipment (or card) but some of BT's aswell. This is why i lost voice comms first of all and then BB.
The engineer explained that voice comms needs 2 wires and that Broadband will work on just 1 cable although at reduced speed.
The engineer then went on to say that they will be billing Toucan, my telco provider and Orange for the damage there equipment had done.
Interesting chat that i thought.
Anyway phoned up Orange to tell them this and got told that my line was being regraded again becuase of my equipment was not capable of the speed and that i will be without BB for 4 days.
aaaaarggggh!
Oh and apparently i asked for this and also i asked for a new contract!
And technical support cant look at my account because of the customer servies have "overridden" the account because of the regrade.

They dont stop telling lines a regrade doesn't take for days lol and as for them saying your DLink is incompatable with their new speeds is rubbish, glad to see you have decided to move i had similar problems when with Orange after i moved my so called problems miraculously disappeared and not had any since.
Good luck with your change.
