just got the livebox yesterday, installed it using ethernet cable and it worked but was very slow. Turned computer off and back on and then it wasnt working. Left it a while then it connected but was then very slow. Left it overnight turned it back on and it wasnt working again this morning. Pluged my old speedtouch modem in and that works perfectly fine. Have i done something wrong with livebox setup or is it livebox fault. When i installed the cd it installed Orange desktop but then said setup could not install all componants.
The CD doesn't do or really add anything that should effect or help with an ethernet connection.
Do the livebox lights differ between when it's working and not, also does the status of the local area connection within network connections change at all?
Ok so it's having trouble with the signal down the line. Sounds like the connection between livebox and PC is fine.
Is everything that connects to the phone line going through a filter? Line lead to the livebox connected in nearest the power cable? Tried using the phone cable that the speedtouch uses?
I've been reading all the posts with interest - this one seems to be the closest to my own problem.
My livebox shows two lights - phone and wireless, both steady. Phone works fine.
When I switch on the computer, we lose the phone light (and the phone gives an engaged tone). The LAN shows that it is connected (at 100Mpbs), and it shows that we're connected to the internet gateway. The wireless light stays steady, and the @ light flashes a bit (not at a steady rate, and not regularly). Eventually, the phone light steadies and we can surf again.
When I check the configuration, I'm told either that the internet isn't connected, or there's a message about "ppp".
Any clues? What should I do?
This is all even worse if someone in the family logs on to the computer using their own account - there's no activity from the livebox at all.
