I was already familiar with Adsl, I never knew anything about the newer versions.
I guess I'm on MAX, poste stats on another discussion last night, mind they are totally different now (using a wireless router) My connection was an appaling 516k last eveninng download some software, used it now is back to something worth while, just under 4meg.
Mine is still running at between 5-6meg at most times. Last night around 8.30pm I tested and it dropped to about 3.5meg but I hadn't notied too much difference in browsing. It went back to 5.5meg about 10pm.
I went to the microsoft site to download IE7 just to see what my actual download KB/s speed was and it was downloading at 820KB/s so I have to say I'm more than happy with those speeds.
I am on the 'Fleet' exchange which is in north hampshire. I am also, as the crow flies, only about half a mile away from the exchange (maybe less). Maybe this has something to do with it?!!??!
Most of your speeds seem awesome compared to mine:
Speed Down 295.96 Kbps ( 0.3 Mbps )
Speed Up 154.81 Kbps ( 0.2 Mbps )
This is an improvement to what I had last week (0-20 Kbps!). After half a dozen phone calls to very helpfull customer service people who all read from the same script (telling me to check the way it was plugged in!), or lied about checking for line faults I eventually got my 0.3 Mbps on a 8Meg line.
8128 downstream 288 upstream so i take it from what ive been reading im on llu. noise margin 11.5 attenuation 24.0
now the problem is i get the broadband with my girlfriends mobile contract and she is paying the extra cost to get the 8 meg line but from all the speed tests ive done it looks like she is still on a capped 2 meg line so now it looks like a call and complain to Orange and then i will post back with what they got to say for her being charged for a service for the last 4 months that she hasnt recieved.

ok phoned customer services concerning the above problem of mine and they said yes we are on the 8 meg package for definate and then the customer service advisor went to start telling me to do the usual check
ie : empty cookies etc etc but that soon got squashed when told im an it tech so ive done all the usual crap to diagnose the problem and phoning u was the last resort as the box was reporting i should be on 8 meg but all im getting is 2 meg capped speeds
anyway long story short she ran a line test and confirmed there is a problem with the llu at the exchange and she has flagged it for repair and to phone back in 48 hours
so the games still go on will keep u lot informed of the fun and games but for now i suppose i should be gratefull im getting 2 meg speed as unlike some others on ere getting stupidly low speeds

I think they have problems on all their exchanges.
well if they dont get the service sorted they have got a few months of service charge to pay back and as im only getting 2 meg ( wich comes for free with the phone contract) when i should be getting 8 that im paying for.
saying that thougyh i do have to admit that the customer services gal was very freindly and only to happy to help and totaly admited its was a problem with the llu at the exchange and it would be seen to as soon as possible.
lets just hope there crappy engineers can work some magic on the even crappyer hardware there using
