I connected wireless to my laptop a couple of weeks ago no probs every thing working fine, but now i want a wired connection to my desktop pc so i connnected the erthernet cable and loadeds disc but nothing i can't get internet on desktop but im still working fine with laptop Please any advice welcome.
Connect up the ethernet cable and go through the control panel to network connections. What does it say for the Local Area Connection? If it's showing connected right click and go into status, select the support tab, what does the Address Type and IP address show as?
Try with both the red and yellow ports on the livebox, if you have a spare ethernet cable try that instead otherwise call Orange and they'll probably send you a new cable to check with. Also if you've not used that pc on ethernet before it may be work trying the livebox with a friend's laptop or pc to see if that works, possibly indicating a problem with your pc's ethernet port.
I'm trying to ditch my wireless connection and get my old ethernet one back, basically because gaming is too intermittent on a wireless connection, (is this another problem that could be fixed btw?) I've got it all plugged in and it even says it's connected but I'm receiving nothing. Do I need to delete the wifi connection in the livebox settings?
