Is anyone actually anywhere near 8MB?? Maybe its just the fact that anyone close to 8Mb wouldnt need to be on this site reading these posts. I know if, after my upgrade, I was around 6-8Mb I wouldnt have even seen this site. Or should upto 8Mb be changed to upto 4Mb?
Used to get 2.5 for about 4 months which i was happy with. In december this dropped to 1mb (1152 / 288), been the same ever since.
I have rang a few times but may aswell smash my head on the desk.
Back to NTL i think.
Sorry - Forgot to add that last time i rang the indian fella told me it was something to do with a recent Automatic Microsoft Update ?!? ..... at that point i gave up and smashed my head on the desk.
yep i think its been fixed aswell because it hasnt moved in 2 months where as before it would go up and down slightly all the time. obviously 1152 / 288 is an exact 1mb line aswell.
mentioned this to the indian fella, he said it says 4.5 on his screen, i think meaning the max i can achieve. he did a line test and said ring back tomorrow for the results ?!?!?!?!?!?!?! a line test takes 2 mins ?
i have just give up at the moment to be honest, dont have the patience with them. would be great if i could speak to someone in the uk.
Perhaps someone from Orange would like to explain.
Whats funny is they can't explain, because if they did, there would be an outrage. What the poll shows so far is a Oranges LLU network is seriously underperforming for alot of people. And this is actually confirmed by people who have been moved from ADSLMAX with great performance, to being moved to LLU with abysmal service. Therefore one can conclude Three things:
1. It is NOT a problem due to the user side, which includes dodgy phone lines, exchange distance, pc problems etc etc.
2. The problem IS due to Oranges LLU equipment. Either the LLU equipment cannot supply high speeds and therefore needs to be upgraded (this is the main reason I think for many). Or, Orange are purposely capping at low slows speed to accommodate more people onto the Exchange.
3. Having you on their LLU system, saves Orange more money
It has been stated by people in the 'know', that its a mystery how Orange are managing their LLU systems and in what state they are in. Those who do know what is going on have yet to post any information here. Why no one can shed more light bemuses me, because we know so much about ADSLMAX, yet little is known about what the f**k Orange is doing with their LLU network...Do we need to sacrifice a few chickens for a whistle blower?
I came across this site because I was "upgraded" to the LLU system on the 25th january and during peak times I was running at near dial up speeds where before I was running at about 3meg quite happily at all times. So, obviously I typed it into google to see if I had to do something that I wasn't aware of and came across this site and nearly cried.
HOWEVER
Over the last few evenings I've been running at speeds between 5-6meg so I would like (even though it might grate on a few people) to show that "MAYBE" it's not all doom and gloom.

I hope that i'm not hated by everyone now!!?!!!
I'm happy that you are getting good speeds - we need people to post this type of info and perhaps we can work out how to improve low speeds.
Just tested mine:
It refuses to go above 2.7 but I was changed to LLU on 30 January so in another 5 days I may be lucky.
Which exchange are you on?
This site should not be about bashing Orange but finding solutions.
I'm new here, wonder if you can guess why I am here too lol.
Recently upgraded from a 2meg service (which was'nt all it was cracked up to be), by being offered a free upgrade to a potential 4.5meg. 3 or 4 days later it was up and working, I was achieving slightly faster than 4.5 on speed tests, that is till sometime last Friday when all hell broke out dropped connections no connections, varing degrees of speeds. Nothing near the 4.5meg thou. In fact this evening its been as low as Dial-Up.
Anyhow my router says it as a connection speed of 5696kbps............. this is about a meg and half lower than it was prior to last Friday.
Any body have any idea's, sorry if I'm posting in the wrong forum.
