<Livebox Issues? ~ Livebox Internet Connection Drops Out On Reboot

Apologies if this repeats a thread - can't find exactly the same problem elsewhere on the forum.
Had a livebox for a few months with no problems at all. Then it went wrong in August and it's taken 'til now to get a replacement. Anyway...
Now it's all connected up again - can even get a Nintendo DS connected wirelessly! The Livebox has a wired connection to an XP SP2, and we have a 'phone connected too. All works well (if a little slower than the Speedtouch USB modem). THe Livebox is left "on" all the time, though I do switch off the power to the PC and peripherals.
When I switch the PC on, the livebox drops its signal from the internet. The config pages tell me either that the link is down, or that the Livebox is synchronising. SOmetimes it says something about ppp. The Livebox phone gives an "engaged" tone.
After a few minutes, it picks up again and all is normal.
