Glad it's worked out OK for you, I've already signed up to another ISP but won't change over for about 2 weeks. Needless to say, Orange STILL haven't fixed the 'problem'.
Do you have any idea what the actual problem with your Prange connection was if not a line fault? Just to give me some ammo if the same happens to me once I've switched.
No sorry I guess I will never know what caused the problem. Maybe BT detected what the problem was when they carried out there line check and fixed the problem.
Good luck with your change over
I'm in a state of shock!!!! Was told that my connection would be fixed by the 18th, which it wasn't, phoned Orange, got through to the Indian call centre, went through the usual rubbish then gave up trying.
Tonight, just because I had nothing better to do, I gave it one last try and it worked, I'M FINALLY BACK ONLINE
Should be with my new ISP within the next 2 weeks, though by then the MAC code will be out of date so will look forward to Orange wanting to charge me £10 for another.
Thanks to all who've helped me out, especially Steve - top bloke.
Stick around though and lend some support now and then if you can to the many who are it would seem still being lied to and having their bank accounts plundered.

Orange Fightback
I left Orange back in October after being with them from the Freeserve days. I'm now with TalkTalk who have been absolutely brilliant. On the odd occasion when they've had a problem they actually own up and fix it, what a difference to Orange. Bonus side is its free.
Currently with TalkTalk for their phone package and could have upgraded to their BB package for no extra cost but it would have meant an 18 month contract, plus there seems to be a long wait with them as it's such a good deal.
Update: Should have known it wouldn't be that easy, my new ISP can't migrate me, asked me to ring BT to find out what's on the line and I've been told that the ADSL has been removed by Orange leaving just LLU which will mean there's no marker for the new ISP to take over. BT also said that I shouldn't actually be able to get BB as Orange have cancelled the contract. Strange as they're still taking money from my account and haven't informed me of any cancellation.
My new ISP had warned me that Orange might put a cancellation on the line in order to get another 30 days money out of me, apparantly Orange, TalkTalk and Tiscali are quite well known for doing this.
So it's actually cheaper & quicker to cancel your contract with Orange rather than ask for a MAC code and then have to cancel anyway
