Hi
I log on to your site on a daily basis now because I find it very informative moreso than Orange Help Desk. I followed your instructions on manually setting up Liveprinter which I have successfully done connecting a Brother HL-1450 wirelessly and printing from a laptop connected by wireless. However I am unable to connect to the printer via the livebox by a wired connection. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you
Really it should follow the same method as the previous system took. Does it get stuck at a particular point or step? Could some security software be preventing it going through correctly?
Hi
Thanks for your reply. I did exactly as with the wireless laptop. The wired PC, connected directly to the RED port on the livebox, has anti-vir and zone alarm software as do the laptop. It finds the TCP/IP port 192.168.1.1 etc but fails to connect to the printer and print.
Hi
Just to update so far. I disabled Zone alarm and anti-vir on another hard wired PC and connected up successfully with my printer via the livebox. So why is my PC which was connected to the printer directly via a USB cable not connecting? The only discrepancy is that the livebox software was not installed as connection was made via //http:192.168.1.1 initially. Now when I try to install using the CD the computer just hangs on "Connect another PC" box.
Any idea how to uninstall the existing connection setting?
There shouldn't be any need to install the livebox software, for an ethernet connection all it does it put some software on the PC that isn't run except when needed, a couple of icons and help simply the way you set it up going through the livebox config pages.
The liveprinter service is getting an update through a firmware sollution by the end of January. Though it is implemented at the moment in the livebox, it is not yet fully supported, but will be by the start of feb. The update is apparently going to make it essentially plug and play it seems, and very simple to set up.

Somewhat incorrect unless this is new info I've not heard about yet. Currently it works and the software's just supposed to automate it so all you do it plug in the printer, run the software and when it asks let the PC get the printer drivers.
