VERY WELL DONE DIXONS FREESERVE,
...reasonably WELL DONE WANADOO,
...sort of "okay" ...and keep trying Orange !!!!
People should remember that until an "arm" of DIXONS constructed Freeserve, EVERYBODY in the UK was at the mercy of AOL and COMPUSERVE. Both of those were mostly glorified MASSIVE proxy's ...or massive BBS's (bulletin board systems - IMHO). In those days I used to use Vossnet in London and ran up some rather huge 'phone bills.
I'm a bit peeved that I have to unplug my Orange Livebox, and plug back in my old Linksys to be able to get my old Dreamweaver 4 to access my free websapce / upload.webspace.freeserve.net ...etc. :-(

Umm, long before Freeserve there was this minor operation called 'Demon Internet' who happened to have pioneered internet access in the UK as early as 1992. The only things people were at the mercy of were the marketing machines of AOL and Compuserve.
Orange Broadband is the same company as Wanadoo Broadband. They've just changed the name as both Orange (mobile) and Wanadoo Broadband were merely brand names of France Telecom - there hasn't been a takeover.
