These are my stats provided from link above Comments please
Wireless connection @48-54mbs
Livebox won't work from master socket (too far for wireless?)
Bell circuit (pin 3) disconnected
Think Orange have capped me at 3Mb on LLU exchange
used to get upto 4.8Mb before they tried to 'sort out' a fault on the line
Their line test says it is still there
Neighbour who lost Orange service for 10 wks migrated to BT whose engineers are still trying to identify a 'blockage' on the line
Thanks glenhill
Only 2 & 5 on main socket no 3 bell wire to exts
Plugged Livebox into Master, conn to PC by wireless (18Mbs) (when adjacent to PC wireless gives 54mb) Stats gave noise margin 11.4dB attainable download 3968 kbs attenuation 46
Ethernet cable conn (on ext socket) few mins later gave 11.3dB, att 46 Attainable download 4128 at around 11.30pm. Previously posted stats were mid PM
Distance to exch 2.1k straight line assume <3k wire length so I am assuming cr*p ext copper wires Further comments?

Dont think theyre too bad are they?
As explained elsewhere, went back to 2mg connection recently after initial problems with 8mg (no internet for 2 days). They put me back to Starter package erroneously however (thereby asking me to send Livebox back) which wasnt what I wanted as we had previously been on Plus package, which is what I thought it would have reverted to. As that is now defunct however, I've risked upgrading again so will see what happens this time, we seemed to get internet connectivity on the third day after the upgrade last time when the line was probably interleaved but had already asked to go back to 2meg by then as nobody had explained the 10-day stablisation period to me at that stage, and still didnt at the time which seems rather amiss on their part.
So glad I found these forums! I thought I was going crazy.
Basically the story so far is: (I'm sure all this will sound very familiar!)
Decided to move from telewest to a BT line and make use of the 'free' broadband as I had already got a contract with Orange mobile which costs £35 per month.
Got my BT line fitted and then rang Orange to register for the livebox, it arrived after 10 days (not bad considering xmas hols etc), connected it all up and got it working with no problems and instantly got speedtest results of 6mb! great!
HOWEVER, after a couple of days the phone (landline) stopped working properly and was very faint with fuzzy noises in the background, this got worse until the landline stopped working altogether!, I had dial tone but when dialling there was no response and just kept getting constant dial tone.
After alot of messing about switching the livebox on/off and disconnecting phones etc I decided to check the BT wiring, after alot of fiddling I discovered that when I removed the upstairs phone extension from the line by taking apart the master BT socket with built in extension box and removing the extension wiring that the landline then worked fine! YIPPEE!
So I then plugged everything back together expecting the broadband to be back to 6mb, BUT NO, it's still less than 300k (my upload is faster at 350k).
I have now read on these forums about 'training' the line etc, so I'm assuming that whilst I had the phone line problem my limit was reduced to ensure 'stability'. So now I asssume I'll just have to wait for things to improve, hopefully!
Luckily my telewest broadband is still active untill the end of jan so I can at least use my 2mb cable.
Pretty good results, but the main part it doesn't tell you is what IP profile you're on, which could be 1/2 meg. As long as the sync stays that high for roughly 3 days it should move the data profile up again.
Checked my speed tonight and it's up to about 2.5mb !
That's not so bad as it's faster than my old telewest 2mb which was costing £17.99 a month, I just hope it increases again, hopefully back to 6mb or more. I'll keep you posted.
