Hi all,
I bought a brand new handset to use through my Livebox. The handset works fine for making and receiving calls through my normal line (bypassing Livebox) and can receive calls through the Livebox no problem but will not allow me to make outward calls through the Livebox ('Number you have dialled does not exist').
I am convinced the handset is not broken but that is something to do with the configuration/compatibility between this particular handset and the Livebox. I have tried other handsets through the Livebox and they work fine including one that is the same make and similar model as the handset that does not work
Any ideas?
I am concerned I could go out and buy brand new handsets ad-infinitum only to find they will not work with the LiveBox.
The new handset that does not work does not have the facility to change between TONE and PULSE dialling modes. The handset that does work does have the capability to switch so I changed it from TONE (default) to PULSE and tried it through the Livebox to see if I could replicate the problem but alas it doesn't, it doesn't even appear to dial the number at all so my theory is - My new phone works in TONE mode by default (guessing) but whatever mode it is working in the number signal it is sending to the Livebox is not being interpreted by the LiveBox as a valid number even though the same number is OK on a BT line. My hunch is this is a Livebox 'bug'.
Any new theories please, short of going out and buying more handsets.
Hmm you could try adding a * or # at the beginning, I'm sure I remember someone having to do that on the talk service before for some reason. No idea if it'll help but no harm to try it.
Eureka - Elhana you are a star!!!! Just when I was getting down to my last few strands of hair you have found the solution - If I precede the number by * or # the phone works OK.
Many thanks to all who provided input and I hope that this thread will help others in the future.
