I’m having problems connecting my Toshiba wireless laptop to my livebox.
I turn on the wireless on the laptop and it finds the livebox, no problem. I’m prompted for the WEP key (which I got from the bottom of the livebox), I enter it and the dialog box opens with the animation of the two computers connecting to each other, then, nothing happens.
I’ve tried connecting with the wireless software, using Windows wireless network setup wizard and the Toshiba software. They all find the wireless network but I’m unable to connect and access the Internet?
Did you put the livebox in pairing mode ? . Press button 1 on side of livebox . Then try to connect .
You can always try turning the wifi security off on the box and see if it connects up . If it does its a security problem most likely caused by the boxes combined WPA/WEP mode thats known to cause problems for some people .
Try setting the security to WEP only and try connecting .
I wondered about changing the security settings, but was worried that my PC upstairs (connected via the wireless adapter) would be affected?
Also, I've turned off the security in the Livebox.
If it's a speedtouch adapter from Orange then change the security to WPA only and try connecting, that shouldn't make any difference but hopefully get the laptop on. If it doesn't work try WEP only, although you'll need to set the other PC to WEP too.
