last time they tried to update (quite a while ago) I lost my connection completely for about 2 hours. I turned off the Livebox, waited 30 seconds, and turned it on again. It seemed to work ok after that but not sure if I would have got the update.
I haven't had problems for a while now, so panicking about them interferring with the Livebox.
I don't want any other services thanks, I just want to be left alone.
Is my fear justified? Any advise please?

Well no matter the firmware it should still work. Older the firmware is the more chance it'll try and update as soon as it's turned on and connected.
These days it should try and schedule the update for the middle of the night to try and avoid likely usage times.
If you check the config pages, update section it'll tell you what version you have, 5.06.xx is the older one, 5.08.xx is the latest one.
Best thing to do is if you've got the time spare, when you know you don't need to use the net, go into the update page and ask it to manually update. Then you can be sure it's done and has gone through ok.
Thanks for the advice. I will try what you are saying.
Just a bit nervous about change as I had quite a bit of trouble with a dud Livebox which was eventually replaced, but it took them nearly 6 weeks to get the talk service reistablished. All is working fine now, and that's how I'd like it to stay. I guess I've got have faith. You guys all seem to get on ok with the updates, so Hopefully my fears will be unfounded.
Thanks again

I had a look on the Orange website for plans in future updates and no mention but it does mention:-
live music
Soon you'll be able to listen to digital music stored on your computer through your HiFi. All you'll need to do is connect it to the Livebox.
livezoom
Want to see what's going on at home? You'll be able to connect a WiFi camera to your Livebox so you can watch from any computer or mobile connected to the Internet.
just found the liveprinter info, quote "This is a new service coming soon, which allows you to plug your printer into the Livebox, and send documents to print from wherever you are" unquote
Thanks for all the info.
I have just plucked up the courage and updated. All worked fine thanks.
1 final question please.
My sone has a laptop and is away on a course at the moment. When he comes back at the weekend will we have to put the Livebox into "pairing mode" so my son can get his wireless connection again or will the connection remain as it was undisturbed? I know about pressing button 1, but will this be nessessary?
Thanks again to all who gave advice.
Stu
It should just work if it was working before unless, you either factory reset the livebox or for some reason the firmware update wipes the associated devices list. (It shouldn't)
Thanks again to all who offered advice.
I'll have to wait until my son gets home at the weekend to actually try the wireless, but from what you are all saying I am quite confident that it will work ok. I'll let you know.
Thanks again
Stu
