I am glad to find this website but sad that it needs to be the case.
My folks just switched from W dial up to WBB (my behest that they take BB and my mum wanted to keep her ISP email address etc ).
And of course its not working. She signed up on 17th April and the connection was supposed to be up and running 10 days later on 27th. So far nothing and the 'help-line' said this afternoon that BB is down in their area (North Bristol) and it will be back on tomorrow evening (Sunday 30th April 2006).
Reading with abject *horror* the various tales on here (and on several other pages on the web) I have realised that its very likely this was just flannel to get my mum off the phone. Also read how problematic it is to get rid of Wanadoo and to avoid the 'collection' agency being turned onto the case.
So: my question- to those with a bit longer experience of Wanadoo 'support line'/ 'customer support'/ 'service' than my folks who are probably just embarking on their 'wanadoo-the-rip-off-merchants' adventure is:
Can you give me/ them some tips as to how to proceed in this voyage: both of the initial dealings after todays fabrications with customer support (for example my mum finds it very difficult to understand the India call centre people)/ the use of threats to go to Ofcom or arbitration/ citing this websites name/ how to leave Wanadoo without being unjustly financially penalised etc etc/
