I think many of Orange's speed problems lately may be linked to their rolling change over to LLU. Several problem posts reflect mine in early Oct
It would be helpful if posts included area STD dial code or exchange name if known. We could then see if any particular area is experiencing a high incidence of problems.
Mine is 01625 Wilmslow
Had a tel call from Orange Tech Support last week. Spent the last few days in a quiet dark room recovering.
My LLU upgrade Oct was giving me 3.5 - 5Mb on Livebox ~2-4Km from exchange. Initially complained about random, transient disconnects. Told fault on line, several weeks and many phone calls later Tech rang to ask me to say they had capped me at 2Mb. No mention of what fault was or whether cured. They have now signed off on my complaint.
Now I want my up to 8Mb connection back. One neighbour still has no BB service after 7 weeks!!
Yeah im sure im being capped at 2.7 megabits even though my line is always connected at 5632kbps with around 7-9 snr left. Download speed is rarely any slower than 2.7 megs but NEVER EVER faster.
Not sure weather its worth calling them up or not.

My exchange is Glossop. 01457
Hi again,
Do you still always synch at 5632 whenever you force a re-synch?
Can I ask if you ever get any losses of synch?
Have you seen the posts in the Livebox forum about trying PPPoE on LLU lines?

Yep. Im always connected at 5632 even when I force a resync and even when i have about 9 db of snr left.
They just locked it at the speed it connected at when i first got upgraded.
Over all the connection is really quite stable only resyncing every five days or so.
Ill have a look in the livebox forum now it sounds interesting.
One question John is this really safe and easy to do. If so I will try it tonight.
No guarantees, but I've done it several times with no problems. I've also reset the Livebox afterwards with no ill effects. I can't comment on the faster download speeds since I'm on fixed speed IPstream.
No problem. Please let us know how you get on.[/quote]
Well I followed the guide and changed to PPPoe but it made no difference. If anything my average download speed has dropped to around 2.4 meg average from the 2.7 i always get.
