I have suddenly found that I cannot access the majority of websites. I can access google, and the Orange website if I bypass the home page, but pretty much nothing else. I can receive e-mails via outlook, but any email I send doesn't get to the recipient.
I've got two computers connected to the livebox, and its affecting both of them, so I can't believe its a problem with the TCP/IP or winsock settings on the pc.
I emailed Orange, who suggested I reinstall internet explorer but I really don't see how that will help!
all webmail sites, and not just websites with secure log-ins either, pretty much everything - bbc, microsoft, msn, to name a few (and orangeproblems too!)
I am having the same problems. But only with one of Three computers on the same wireless network.
One (the one I am typing this on) works fine with all web sites.
The other two work with hardly any. I can go into google and do a search and the results show up. But when I try to access pages in the search (or go to them direct) the connection to the page just times out, eventually.
I have checked and all the settings appear to be the same on each computer.
I get the same results whether I use explorer or Firefox, or AVG anti-virus update for that matter. IE the one that does work works fine with all Three programs, the other two don't with any of the programs.
Guess I will just have to try again tomorrow and see if anthing changes.
I've got exactly the same problem too, could only access a few websites early this evening, on the others the pages just didn't download. I've switched back to a dial up connection and everything works perfectly.
Just tried the broadband again and I can connect up and log in but can't access any pages at all now. (I've only got the USB Speedtouch modem).
On the two computers that were not working I had used system mechanic 6 to optimise the internet connects for Broadband.
When I changed this setting to be optomised for dial up and rebooted all works fine on the net again.
This worked for both of the computers. Just to check it was not the Orangatangs that had fixed it and got their act together (as if) I reset one to broadband optimisation and it stopped working again.
So you need to have your PC set for dial up optimised not broadband if you have used any program to alter the settings.
Had the same problem for the whole day yesterday, I tried every possible solution. This morning, I logged on to give it one last bash - and everything works perfectly.
I changed nothing, so it looks like it's yet another of Orange's mess ups.
