The settings are different for gmail and go thru their own server in Outlook express if thats what ur using highlight the account in tools>accounts>properties on the servers tab Incoming mail (POP) is pop.gmail.com outgoing (SMTP) is smtp.gmail.com > then below that username and password at the bottom under "Outgoing Mail Server" tick the option "My server requires athentication" on the "advanced" tab Outgoing mail (SMTP) put in 465 and tick " This server requires a secure connection (SSL)" below that next to "Incoming mail POP3" put in 995 and tick "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)" click apply ok and ur done .
Hope that helps.
Having said that if ur only trying to send to a gmail address Orange will block anything that aint making them money lol

Thanks for the reply but you've misunderstood my question.
A few weeks ago I could not send mail to hotcom users using the Orange smtp but this now appears to be fixed. I am now trying to send an email to someone who has the email address xxxx@gmail.com but I am getting no replies and no receipts for delivery of mail. So I was wondering whether gmail is blacklisting the Orange smtp like hotmail was.

Oh right well i aint with Orange anymore but from what ive read it is probably right it seems a lot of servers are blocking Orange and it seems Orange are doin nothing whatsoever about it. Try asking in the Orange forum on ADSLguide-Orange formerly Wanadoo .
