If the line can only support 1 meg or less, he doesn't need the wireless system or want VOIP then most of those advantages are pointless. Anyway it seems to be what Wanadoo decided that the package is only for new customers.
If your line only supports upto 1 meg thats fine but when it is upgraded will you still want £14.99 with only 1 meg..with tech support at 50p per min..and just a standard usb connection.. It is advertised to bring in new customers.. Are you the same with your mobile? Brand new offers are in with different companies all the time for example what happens when you have paid a gym member ship joining fee, Do u go and ask for your money back?
I got mine dropped from £17.99 to the £14.99 when I threatened to leave Which with the current service now that Orange has taken over, will not be very long.
You can now change your package from the member center but I would recommend a phonecall.
I have just rung up to get a MAC code because I decided that £18 per month was no longer competitive. They asked where I was migrating to, what the package was and how much it was going to cost. When I told them they said "OK, we'll match it."
So my download cap has just gone up to 3Gb and my monthly payment down to £12.99!
Only downside is having to commit to another 12 month contract, but as I have been with Freeserve/Wanadoo/Orange since day one and never had any problems, I didn't mind too much as it saves the hassle of migrating.
Phone was answered straight away and it was all sorted in 5 minutes.
...When I told them they said "OK, we'll match it."

Did they say they'd match the full package or more specifically the 3gig download limit or just the price? As far as I was aware the download limits are all handled behind the scenes and couldn't be chopped and changed like that on a per account basis.
Interesting. I just phoned Orange for a MAC and they asked if they could match the offer would I stay. I presently pay £17.99 fo a 1mb connection/2GB d/l . When I logged into my account, it said I could upgrade to 2mb for £15.99 provided I agreed to a new 12 month contract.
I told the sales rep that I could get 3GB d/l, newsgroup access and a fixed IP for £11.95 a month and he said he couldn't match it. I also expressed my disgust that customers weren't automatically upgraded at the reduced price and had to agree to a new 12 month contract.
They are also introducing changes like charging for credit card payments, having to give 30 days notice before cancelling an account and charging for MAC's (you get the first one free but if your new ISP is slow doing the migration and you have to ask for a new one, they will charge for it). All things to make it more difficult to move once they bribe you into staying with one of their "match it" offers.
Basically there is no way that I would stay with them because I wouln't trust them not to rip me off again in the future.
I personally wish people wouldn't give in to "matching" offers. Companies like Orange know that a lot of customers will do nothing and the ones that do complain can often be bought off. If people would stick by their convictions and actually leave when they feel like they are getting ripped off, then companies might think twice about doing it in the first place.
It is cheaper for them to keep existing customers than take on new ones but existing customers have to pay more - how fair is that?
If they do talk you in to staying, whatever they offer won't last forever and you'll just be in the same position again looking for another ISP later but it will be more difficult to move.
Elhana - Sorry for the late reply. The salesman definately said that they would match the whole package but, as you suspected, this does not appear to have happened. I am still on a 2Gb per month limit. I wasn't too bothered about this anyway as I never get near that. My speed has gone from 1Meg to 2Meg (I live out in the sticks so thats probably the best I can hope for) and my monthly charge has definately gone down to £12.99. They also sent me another free modem which I didn't ask for and have no use for. What a waste of money!
Well to be honest even if you did go over the download limit and upto 3 gig they probably won't bother you. They more use that system to take on the really big downloaders, I've seen 300-400 gigs listed! (Per month!)
A spare modem isn't a bad thing, though hopefully you'll never need to use it at all.
