Have almost been on Orange 12months now with "no major" issues to complain of....(Thank god they will never put LLU equipment in my exchange)
Apart from this month when I downloaded Fedora Core 6 on there basic package completely obliterated the download limit of 2Gb and now they have reduced my speed from 2Mb to 256Kb...
Now I was going to upgrade to the Broadband Unlimited Package, however on reading a number of problems with Orange have decided it would be best if I returned to BTYahoo!
My question is what is the best way to get my MAC Code off Orange?
Not really as they won't have altered the speed. The contract does allow them to suspend access or charge for useage over the limit but as far as I'm aware they've never gone that far before. It's more likely something else has effected the speed somehow, if it stays slow all the time it'll be worth getting in touch with them to investigate.
I also decided to leave Orange (after 6 years with them and their predecessors) due to major problems accessing my e-mails and the inability of the so called 'technical help line' to help.
I asked for my MAX code and was told that they could 'definately supply me with a MAC code', only to be told 2 minutes later that my account had been closed (rather than migrated) and therefore they couldn't supply me with a MAC codem meaning that I had to wait a week for the marker to be removed!

I know of others Orange have done that to obviously being awkward knowing that when you ring back to complain you havn't a clue who they were or you will ever get them when you ring again they really couldn't care less.

With regards to the speed issue I am 100% confident it has been capped at there end, my Router is showing speed stable at 2Mb and I have no issues with the phone line (trust me on this).
I used to work for an ISP and know what rates can be adjusted from the "cloud", I have checked my speed again today and it is still poor. Downloading a copy of Fedora this month must have caused me to go that 1.3Gb too far over compared to Vista lol.
However, just to satisfy everyone's curiosity regarding the matter I will call Orange (if I can get through) just to see if my speed has been capped, will update you when or if I find out.
