i started with freeserve, all was well, then they became wanadoo, everything was fine, i upgraded from 512 to 2meg and enjoyed the speeds.
then wanadoo changed to Orange, this turned out ok. one day i turned my machine on and i had 8meg broadband, hurrah! It wasnt as fast as i expected, but was a definite improvement. And free, so what did i care.
But now (this past week or so) it appears to have gradually grown old and tired..
THE MAXIMUM SPEED I HAVE ACHEIVED THIS WEEK IS 24KB DOWNLOAD.
now i look after my machine, and i know how to protect it from spyware and trojans etc. this is definitely not a software problem. Or a hardware one for that matter as my machine is as it has always been...
SO WHAT IS THE DEAL Orange? YOU ARE CHARGING ME 17.99 A MONTH AND I CAN BARELY USE THE INTERNET.
i am pi**ed off. I use the net alot for my studies, and waiting like 10 seconds for google to load is NOT satisfactory.
anyone else with a similar issue?
EDIT: I POSTED THIS TWICE BECAUSE MY CONNECTION STALLED GOD DAMN
I currently have the exact same problem as you. Since 4/11 my speed is roughly 19kb/s! I have carried out scans for all trojans and spyware, viruses etc and its all clean. Orange customer service are no help at all.
Post here if it improves. Im probably going to leave Orange if it doesnt get fixed soon.
Im also experiencing the problem of my internet being so slow it is unuseable. It would take about 5 minutes for the Orange page to load. It is so f**** pissin off. Customer service is s**t, i have been a loyal customer for about 5 years and this is how they treat me with absolute **** internet.
On 4th November my connection disappeared (taking my Talk phone line with it!).
Since then I've been connecting at 10K bytes/sec. or less.
Rang Orange lots ... their supplier has investigated on a couple of occasions and confirmed all is as it should be (except that I still connect at slow speeds).
Like others I've been with Freeserve, Wanadoo and now Orange. The only problem I've had in all this time is in the last couple of weeks.
Mines been like that for 2 weeks. I have now cancelled my contract with Orange. The customer service was no help at all. It feels good to be free.
The future's bright.
well, the problem is still there, i havent gotten around to cancelling my contract yet as i just started uni.
i called customer service, and after a 20 minute wait, i was told buy a woman (with a lacking grasp of english) that "we have a problem, it will be fixed 8am tommorrow"....
this is before she knew where i live, what type of broadband im on, anything.
