I have recently bought a new laptop and have been trying to set up my wireless livebox connection (which work perfectly well with my old laptop) - as recommended in the livebox instructions, I have turned off my firewall while trying to install and set up the wireless connection. However, I cannot get a this to work - I keep getting an error message on the livebox installation, telling me that I need to turnoff my firewall - even though I have done so. Has anyone any suggestions please -
Possibly need to change the livebox frequency or if it's not an adapter from Orange then you could try changing the security mode from dual down to WPA or WEP only. Dual seems to cause problems for some wireless adapters.
For this you'll need, prefrably, a wired connection to the livebox.
Thanks for the reply. I have managed to sort it out now. I phoned Orange and was told to remove my firewall softwear then try and connect wireless. I did that and still got the message that my fire wall was blocking the connection, even though there was non on my pc at that time. well phoned again and was told to go to control panel > admin> services> then clicked wireless> clicked automatic>start>stop>start> ok then save and bingo it worked! Don't ask me how !! Full marks to the tech support this time they get some stick here but the one I got was sound .

I've had that problem and changed to WEP only - no problem then.
