Unfortunately, if your currently using a upto 8 meg service and not
receiving 8 meg speeds, your line may not be able to support anything
beyond a 2meg connection. We supply all of our customers with the
maximum speed available on they line. The cause of this could be a
number of things, the most common are line quality and length of the
line from your local telephone exchange.
My exchange is ADSL enabled for 8mb. All the checks i have done say the line will support 8mb. 800 metres from the exchange and the Livebox says will support 9.3mb with attenuation and noise margin at 30db.
I think Orange don't know what they are talking about, they need to enable BT to supply my line with 8mb instead of the 2mb I am on.
Performance Tester was not able to find all the network details required for telephone number:xxxxxxxxxxx.
Please check that it is the correct telephone number for your service, and if not try again. If you believe it is the correct number for your service then please raise this as a fault with your service provider.

LOL iv got the exact same information on my line but i am only 580 metres away from my local exchange, im nto sure what to do about the £20 8Meg upgrade, on DSL ZoneUK with my atteuation info and my noise margin they told me my line can support 7.5 - 8MB.

when i started using the BT Speed Tester it was good, but now they keep doing maintanance on it and now i reckon its a load of crap, iv just got that error now when i tried doing it i think its that Java banner at the top of it that keeps screwing it up.
Just to let you all know that i am in the same boat as 30111987.
Recieving just less than 2 meg constantly for 5 days so far ...... no improvement.
As far as i am concerned the problem is that IP profiles are being left at 2000 for most MAX customers, and considering we paid 20 squid it ant on!
Advice for those who call Orange:
use 0870 010 2462 and then choose customer enquireies....its the shortest que....... then ask to be transferred to the department for ADSL MAX+................Works a treat they actually talk sense!
Girl from there agrees with the BRAS profile issue but Orange are not allowed to make changes and raise issues while BT are 'still testing on the line'
And thats a quote guys so lets wait our 10 days and get moaning!!!!
The 10 day period for speed issues is the same for every ISP, until the fault threshold rate is set at the end of that time BT will not accept any speed faults.
It seems the profile getting stuck is fairly common but for the most part it's corrected automatically after 3 days when the system reevaluates profile in use. Still I've read a bunch where it gets stuck on it for longer.
