Sometimes im brousing, both lights on green on alcatel stingrey and then on my start bar only the bottom of the two flashing screens ( connection icon) flashes and no page loads and messengers sign out..I disconnect..try again and it says 721 or sometning likethat but if i either reboot or unplug usb of modem and put back in..it connects..any ideas?
No, dont do anything, call tech support and tell them that you need the Speedtouch Modem. Your modem is outdated and you are eligible for a FREE modem, which will take care of the problem.... Note that it is FREE of any charges.
Which should still work. You can call for a new modem but if you're on 2 meg or less it shouldn't matter and they'd probably suggest reinstalling it anyway which should be quicker than waiting for a new modem through the post.
I have exactly the same problem and its not the software or the modem, unbelievably its Orange. I can go days with out getting disconnected and days with being disconnected every few minutes. I've had this happening since June. I dont bother with the helpdesk as they lie, promised me a new modem on several occasions over a 2 month period amazingly it has never arrived. Am now waiting on a MAC code, promised to be emailed in 48 hours, mmmmmmm 4 days now. Anyway as soon as I can I'm leaving Orange, so the future is bright but it ain Orange.
Sure it can be down to the line/exchange or Orange if it's on LLU but the software is always the first thing you check. Shouldn't need to reinstall over, and over, and over but once or maybe a second time with the drivers from speedtouch.co.uk should be enough.
