Most of their competitors offered it from day one i.e. 31 March 2006

I know my line can take 4.5Mbit/s

If Wanadoo don't hurry up and upgrade me I think I might start looking at the new TV and Broadband offer from Namesco...

ADSL Max is the 8meg services! I think your talking about a new type of technology. That is ADSL 2+. Its a different type of connection completely. Its highley expensive to implement and maintain. Also, it requires a new modem for every single user. At the moment, a decent ADSL 2+ modem is about £100. Obviously, Wanadoo will ask for a 'contribution' to the cost of this.

ADSL 2+ is able to offer download speeds of 24meg/s and upload of 1.3 meg/s. WOW! Heres the bad part, if your local exchange was only enabled for ADSL Max Services (8Meg) in time for the 1st April deadline, then your unlikely to get it from Wanadoo till end of 06/early 2007. Sad

But, if your contract is almost up, take a look at www.bethere.co.uk. They offer this service at £24/m with no download limits.

adsl max is simply where the connection is negotiated between your modem and the exchange to the maximum possible for your line rather than being enforced by the isp at 2meg

this means you can get "up to 8meg" through your existing adsl connection, although most people will not get near 8meg

It's the official line, I have no idea what they are testing either, Wanadoo had people testing ADSL Max for BT last year AFAIK.

well their swedish! Sweden has optical fiber connections already....they are like 10 years ahead of us!

I know of a few people using this service and its pretty much future proof! They dont even monitor what you send up and down you line so you can do anything with it except run a website or a mail server off it! They block some specific ports......

.....id say have a look at em, they are cheap for what they offer and they are bound to get better!

Fair play they've had their problems but atleast they are holding their hands up to it!

Wanadoo need to get some better cust service

I'm 0.3 km from my exchange!!

And unless I switch to BT instead of waiting for Wanadoo, I'll be stuck with 2 megs...just did a check now, came out at 1.85...

Distances for connection almost always refer to physical line length, which can vary drastically from crow flying distance.
