So a year ago I used to be on 1MB, then I changed package and got a livebox and my speed was downgraded to 512KB. Now the Orange website is saying I can have 1MB again but is asking me to pay £20.00 for the upgrade. Surely this is not on

The do this becaue BT wholesale charge Orange £15 or so to change the speed . As a result Orange pass this charge onto you.

Could possibly call up and try and persuade them to drop the fee as you've paid it previously/were on 1 meg before.
