I had a fault on my Livebox. Orange sent me a replacement today and said to contact them to have the second line linked to the new Livebox. When I called Orange I was told they couldn't set up the second line as the service was being withdrawn. There are letters going out soon giving 30 days notice of the change.
As I had a replacement Livebox I've had zero notice of the change. Thanks a bunch Orange.
I've asked for my MAC code. When my Orange mobile contract expires I'll be moving that as well because the T-Mobile and Orange reception is poor where I live. Without Orange broadband there is no longer a reason to put up with the poor coverage.
Orange tried to get me to move my phone line to them but as I've paid BT 12 months up front for line rental that is not an option.
The 2nd line is the only reason I have stayed with them. I will definitely be investigating other options when this ends. I'm glad that I have slowly been moving my e-mail correspondence over to my own domain.

Orange just don't know how to keep customers.
Its the only reason i stayed so long . So itll be bye bye from me to.
It will be replaced by Orange Home Landline, sooner rather than later.....
This is due to speed issues affecting 2nd line quality.
ALL customers will lose 2nd line, it will not just be gone for new customers signing up for Home Ultra.
Sorry to bear bad news folks....
You won't lose the 2nd line if its still active, though this year i recieved an email saying that if its not active or you dont activate it you will def lose it forever.
As of August 2012, existing customers are being notified that the Second Line service will be discontinued from 17th September 2012 and any calls made using the Second Line will be charged at the standard rate by the customer's line rental provider.
I want to run this by you guys and see if I'm missing anything dodgy about this offer Orange has given me:
As we all know the 2nd Line seems to be going on 27th March. I was told that they are offering customers who have and use this 2nd line a package for £20 which includes:
- Up to 16 meg BB, Unlimited
- Free international calls to 64 countries off the main line (as opposed to 32 which thier website states, this includes a country which was excluded from the 32, this is the main reason for me still having the 2nd line)
The £20 is what the package will cost - it's not an introductory fee.
Now tbh, I will be paying approx £10 less if I make this switch - am I missing something here, should I be concerned about anything, and has anyone else been offered this. Why have they been playing hardball with users with the second line when the decent thing to do would be to have made this offer a long time ago?!?
HI all
I have had the letter from Orange RE second line disappearing. I rang the number on the letter and have gone for the deal.
As the technology has moved on they can't support the second line.
The deal is genuine, 500 mins to talk to any mobile and it includes 085 and 045 numbers. Anytime calls on your own number landline, brilliant.
I think its a a great, as I was going for the EE one for £24.00, but this letter turned up in the nick of time.
I think its a great deal for existing customers and good for me.
I was paying £18.37 from Orange aboardband and a forture to Onetel/talktalk for my landline and mobile phone rental.
If have a BT standard line which I have they do all of the work taking it from Onetel over to Orange, it takes about 20 days apparantly
