Details: I can send from my orangehome.co.uk account to anywhere and emails received in a few minutes as expected. Except, hotmail or live.co.uk accounts. They never get the mail or it arrives hours/days later.
Tested sending to my Hotmail account form my yahoo account and it arrives as expected. Send from Orange account and I am still waiting a day later for it to arrive. Nothing to do with filters on the hotmail account (and this is happening for all hotmail accounts I send to).
My suspicion is that the hotmail servers have blocked the orangehome.co.uk domain. This usuually only happens when they see a lot of mails from a domain so think they might be spam and queue them/delay them/delete them.
I noticed this on 20/06/11 when I was setting up a Hotmail account for a friend and tried to send to it from my webmail, it took about 6 hours. Since then it has got worse, at random emails failed to arrive and since 22/06/11 non have got through at all. I've tried both webmail & outlook methods using my Orange account with similar results, 2/4 outook went through, 4/9 webmail. I have ensured that my address is marked as a safe sender in the hotmail account, and I can receive emails from hotmail with no problems. I've contacted Orange regarding this and am waiting for some feedback! This is very worrying as now I don't know who has or hasnt received emails from me recently!
Thanks - sounds very similar. None of the test emails that I sent to my hotmail in the last few days have arrived yet. Friends with Hotmail accounts also have not received my mails.
I too am waiting to hear from Orange, but not at all hopeful that I will get a resolution (or indeed any sense out of them). Putting money on them referring me to a document to check my Outlook settings!
Update, 1 of 2 got through on Saturday 25/06/11, took 6 hours, the second disappeared, no news from Orange, although they had promised to call back on Saturday or Sunday.
Since the only reason I have stayed with Orange this long was to keep my email address I shall probably be looking elsewhere.
Well at least yours are getting through. None are received now at all for me. Using my own Hotmail account as a test I am still waiting for mails I sent to it last Thursday!
No word from Orange - they haven't bothered to get back to me at all. (No surprise there).
Re email addresses: I agree that it is good to keep. The problem with having a hotmail, yahoo, gmail etc address is that they are not seen as "proper" addresses. It is too easy for someone to hide behind one. I don't trust any online business/seller etc that has one.
Since the only reason I have stayed with 0range this long was to keep my email address I shall probably be looking elsewhere.
When you leave 0range you still keep the 0range email address, you just need to log in the the Member Centre to re-activate it every 219 days :
I can send email from my Orange address and they arrive in a few mins as expected. But sending to hotmail accounts takes hours to arrive.
Any ideas?
I have sent e-mails via gmail to avoid this problem
You are not alone - my e-mails to hotmail just have not arrived at all
This is similar to the problem last year - I have phoned it through and at least they are taking it seriously this time unlike last year when they denied there was a problem for more than a month
"We're currently experiencing an issue with other service providers blocking our IP addresses and usual server smtp.orangehome.co.uk, as they believe the emails sent from these IP addresses are Spam. This has resulted in some of our customer's emails being deleted by the service providers Spam filters.
I'm unable to advise you of a timescale as to when this issue will be resolved by, however, I can assure you that we're working to resolve this issue as quickly as possible".
So, exactly the issue I suspected it was all along.
Suggested workaround if using an email client (I am) is to replace the SMTP server with this IP address: 193.252.22.138
Thanks Tim - at least they have acknowledged the problem this time - even thought it took them a week: much better than last eyar when they denied there was a probelm for more than a month
I'm able to get through to hot mail using my gmail account
