Got my <a href="http://www.maccodes.co.uk">MAC</a> code today & a date for migrating to <a href="http://www.awin1.com/awclick.php?mid=1487&id=76445" target="out">Sky</a>.
That was quick, just out of interest, what speed were you on before all this Orange messing around? Because I ve been with Orange for about 4 years now and thier service has been excellent so far for me.
Would really love if my service can go back to how it was before.

Yes it was quick but there was never going to be any chance of anything better in the coming days as I was limited by the BT IPStream service they put me on.
It was excellent for me too. With tweaking I was syncing at 16.5meg with an effective download speed of 14.5meg.
It was rock solid for 17 of my 18 months with only the first month being an issue.
Customer support on the other hand is about the worst you could experience.

Congrats
And btw, did Orange try to make you stay on ? - did they offer you any deals etc..?
Tim, out of interest seeing that the max speed you can attain is dependent on what you are connected to at the exchange, are you saying that Sky has there own service that your line will be connected to when you move over or they ll still be using a BT service as Orange?
My BT test revealed the Information below this morning..
"Your exchange is ADSL enabled, and our initial test on your line indicates that your line should be able to have an ADSL broadband service that provides a fixed line speed up to 2Mbps.
Our test also indicates that your line currently supports an estimated ADSL Max broadband line speed of 7Mbps; typically the line speed would range between 6Mbps and 8Mbps.
Our test also indicates that your line currently supports an estimated ADSL2+ broadband line speed of 14.5Mbps; typically the line speed would range between 11.5Mbps and 17.5Mbps. Our test also indicates that your line could support an estimated ADSL 2+ Annex-M broadband upstream line speed of 1.5Mbps and downstream line speed of 11Mbps; typically the downstream speed would range between 10Mbps and 12Mbps.
The actual stable line speed supportable will be determined during the first 10 days of use. This speed may change over time, to ensure line stability is maintained."

saayinla, Sky have their own equipment in my exchange (LLU) & they estimate a 15.5meg download speed. That would match approx what I got on 0range's LLU service.
I was switched over to BT's ADSL service as BT have no ADSL2 or ADSL2+ equipment in my exchange unlike in your case.
I believe you should be OK once things settle down. BTW where have you got so far?
Hi all, I was on this forum a while back when everyone was complaining about 1Mb capped speeds.
I'm having the exact same issue as Saaylina. I recently noticed IP addresses from a different range being assigned and since then my speed have dropped to 2Mb! Before the change it was 5Mb.
I've done a BT speed check with the follwoing results:
------------------------------------------------------------
Download speedachieved during the test was - 1988 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speedsis 800-2000 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :3224 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 824 Kbps(UP- STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 2000 Kbps
-------------------------------------------------------------
My router stats are as follows:
----------------------------------
Adsl Status: ADSL2+(G.992.5)
Upstream: 824000bps
Downstream: 3224000bps
SNR: 15db
Atten: 49db
-----------------------------------
Seems your issue is identical to mine, my IP address changed when this happened to me as well.
But seeing as your router still shows ADSL2+ that looks promising for you. Mine is still ADSL2 after the downgrade but was ADSL2+.
I ll advice you to try a factory reset because when I did with mine, my speed went up from 2MB to 8MB.
"factory reset
If you need to reset the Livebox to its factory settings follow the steps below:
disconnect all cables connected to your Livebox, including the power cable
leave your Livebox turned off for about 30 seconds
press and hold the Pairing/Association button (button 1), and reconnect the power cable
keep button 1 pressed until just the @, arrow, and phone lights come on
you can then release button 1
what will happen next
the pairing light will flash 11 times (the @, arrow, and phone light will remain on)
the 3 lights will remain lit for a further 30 seconds
the Livebox will restart (starting with a flashing exclamation light) – this takes about 2 minutes
the @ light will flash quickly, and the Wi-Fi pairing light will go solid
"
saayinla, I use my own Draytek router to connect to the Internet so I don't have a Livebox, thanks for the advice though. I've tried factory resets on the Draytek and it has no effect.
I'm guessing your speeds went up because something was changed at the other end without your knowledge.
ADSL2+ doesn't carry many benefits for me as I live in an area where the lines are too noisy to take advantage of that technology. My maxspeed will be around the 5Mb mark.
I just want Orange to supply me with the speeds my line can tollerate rather than what they want to provide me with!
I had to go through all sorts to sort this kind of problem out last time. Countless calls to the call center and a number of emails and phone calls to the head office.
I'm not under contract, so you know what that means! Although Orange were calling me on a regular basis before the change advertising me new packages!
I just want 0range to supply me with the speeds my line can tolerate rather than what they want to provide me with!
You actually mean B.T. because they are actually supplying you now, 0range have little if any input as regards the connection although they still are responsible for sorting problems out with B.T.
Also with a 15dB SNRM you will never see a 5000kbps sync speed on a 49dB attenuation.
My profile has now been increased to 2500 given my sync speeds. But it seems my target SNR is set at 15db so as of yet I cannot sync any higher in order to up my profile.
Before the change when the target SNR was 10db I was getting between 4.2Mb and 4.7Mb depending on time of day.
I seem to have another problem, after having being able to receive speed upto 10MB after the downgrade, I had to disconnect my router all day today in order to get my laminate flooring Installed, however later tonite I reconnected my router and Boom am Now down to 2MB as indicated in my Orange Speed profile even though I have been receiving 10MB up till the time I disconnected my Router.....
I am confused now because my router is showing ADSL2+ again and according to my Exchange BT have up to 20 MB in my exchange.
"ADSL firmware version : A2pBT009c1.d17d
Connection mode : ADSL2+
Type : Fast
Noise margin (dB) : 9.1
Attenuation (dB) : 24.5
Attainable download rate (kbps) : 2135
