come on, liquid, please put us all out of our misery as you are obviously privy to secrets not open to the rest of us peasants and tell us exactly what the problem is!!! Also how it should be fixed, then perhaps you could tell Orange!!!
Fred, I have no idea why they didn't promise to fix it by Wednesday for me, which is why I headed the previous post 'cut and paste'reply - it reads to me like a standard script.
However, I can now contact some of my regular correspondents again, although am still duplicating via hotmail also as I really don't trust the Orange servers any more. However, I still cannot even email my own hotmail account, let alone anyone else's, and as for AOL - if I need to contact anyone on AOL, I use the phone!
No, it's not Outlook based; all I did, being not very clever, was to go to the 'windows hotmail' site or as it is now termed the 'windows livemail' site - being, as I understand it, the updated version of hotmail - and sign up for an account. It's free, and all you have to do is to dream up a username and password. I've now got 'windows live' on my 'favourites' bar which I have 'pinned' to the screen, and I simply log on when I open up my computer and leave it there running on a separate window behind whatever I am doing. It's a bit more of a pain than 'outlook' as whenever you log on you have to get rid of all the things they want you to do that I don't care about one iota, but you can set it to open at your 'inbox'. I only set it up last week when I was having so much trouble, and it is useful.

GM to you too, Stevie, and thanks for your interesting help on this. I may give Hotmail a try. My main concern is that I always like to keep copies of incoming and outgoing e-mails on my computer. I am assuming that there would be a way of saving such on the Hotmail site. I'll take a gander at it sometime. Hopefully, though, Orange may have fixed this continuing and irritating problem by the end of today (Wednesday).
As per earlier posts here, I gave the Orange Executive Office my contact number and a repeated list of gripes about Orange email.
I got a call yesterday from said office, but not the big cheese himself.
Short story, Orange have now determined where the non-delivered emails are being blocked. I'm not a techie in this area, but it seems an intermediary host server or switch has been blocking a good number of Orange emails from transmission to the final domain.
I was told that they have now sorted a good number of the blockages, but not all. So don't rely on your Orange email service at this time. I am promised further updates when available.
So get yourself another email provider if you want to be sure!
ps Hotmail is one of the major domains being blocked. So if you decide to use hotmail you may not get incoming emails from your Orange contacts. And Hotmail aren't immune from their own problems!

Many thanks for the info, Fedup. No doubt you'll keep us all updated. Thanks for taking the trouble of telephoning the Orange officers and for sharing the response with us.
Some good news from here, which is that I've found since last writing on the forum that my e-mails to "clara.co.uk" addies are now getting through ("BlueYonder" ones yet to be tested by me) - so let's hope that Orange are now seriously managing to get to grips with this. Let's face it, they have to do something, or they'll be in trouble with the ISPA and/or OFCOM.
Well well well. And I've been having this problem (non delivery of emails to Hotmail addresses) for at least 18 months. Wish I had discovered this Forum before. I was a Wanadoo user 8 years ago and migrated to Orange so I'm a loyal customer.
So thanks a bunch Orange. You really know how to look after your customers don't you ? NOT. I am hoping to move business premises soon so I'm not going to upset things now but you won't see me for dust when I am settled.
I have set up other accounts to get round the problem (thanks Yahoo & Googlemail) If any of the decent people who have contributed to this topic have any further thoughts on the subject I would be pleased to read them.
I managed today for the first time in over 2 weeks of trying to successfully send email messages from my Orange account to a HOTMAIL account which I had set up specially in order to monitor if my emails were being received.
So some progress, but whether I will ever feel totally confident in Orange email again is another matter.
Fred, there is a lot of storage available in the hotmail account, and I see no reason why you should not be able to download emails to your own computer if you wish; i've simply taken to remaining logged into it for the time that I am online

Hi I'm new to this site but find that I have bben experiencing almost all the problems I'm finding here.
My emails have been a problem for a long time (and I thought it was my fault) but now discover that it was due to Orange. Today things have improved and as far as I can tell all my mails are being sent, arriving and being recieved this end, including to and from Hotmail etc.
What I simply cannot understand is how ISP's like Orange are able to get away with it. We pay them for a service (which their contracts say they will provide) and then they fail for days, weeks, months to provide the full service with no compensation to us their paying customers. Would a shop be allowed to do it? I don't think so, you simply wouldn't go back there to shop again. So I'm looking for another ISP but discover that every single one seems just as bad - what a state of affairs.
After some weeks of frustration ..not alone it would appear...with emails from Orange not arriving at their destinations, I find that this morning at least the ones I have had problems with, namely Hotmail and Sympatico are now working again.......how long for I would not care to hazard a guess given Orange's dismal record.......I can even send emails to
my own Hotmail account..WOW!
For now though...mmmm...I'll say nowt...shhh!
Gossman.

This morning I discover that I have not received any proper mails (ie. mails actually sent to me from friends acquaintances etc) but have received SPAM in the form of lots of copies of the same email from some joker who claims he can solve all my computer problems. Maybe Orange should use him???????
Is being deluged by SPAM the price Orange customers have to pay to get an email service?
