I should have posted much earlier but kept hoping against hope that Orange would fix this. Since last Tuesday 11pm, I have had extremely slow speeds. As I work form home, this has costs me hundreds of pounds.
Orange tech support have tried resetting and then said there was a problem with line. Every day I ring they say they will 'escalate it' but no changes ! Thye sent a new router but again no difference. Its so slow I can't even open the speed tester so bought a mobile dongle to get online
I am really fed up and have asked for a MAC code and ordered a brand new line from BT.
They initially said there was a mismatch between what my line was supporting
ADSL Top Refresh
ADSL firmware version : A2pBT009c1.d17d
Connection mode : ADSL2+
Type : Fast
Noise margin (dB) : 9.6
Attenuation (dB) : 50.0
Attainable download rate (kbps) : 2176
ADSL status : Connected [0]
Orange really should know that ADSL2+ doesn't work well on an attenuation of 50dB especially when they insist on using a Target SNR of 10dB.
That's the basic problem....you are too far away from the exchange to get a decent ADSL2+ connection.
If it was any other ISP they would reduce the connection to ADSL2 or lower but I don't believe Orange will do that.

That I am afraid will be a total waste of time. I have rang Orange every day with a response 'It will be fixed in 24 hours'...no success. Orange sucks and I am leaving ! I am migrating and should be with the new provider Zen internet by Thursday
If anyone reads this, please consider leaving Orange. They are bottom of the pit.
