This is email (slightly edited) that I have just sent to them using the link on orangeproblems (couldn’t find any link on Orange’s own website that worked!)
I have used Orange, and its predecessors, email services for many years, and normally with very few problems.
The webmail service is very useful, and the automatic spam filtering very effective, and accurate, with very few false negatives or positives.
A) Log-in/out problem
================
For some months now I have had a security certificate problem reported, which impedes access to my two identities:
<prenameM>@<identityA>.orangehome.co.uk
<prenameN>@<identityB>.fsnet.co.uk).
Your system thinks the certificate is out-of-date, so Internet Explorer (IE7) throws up a warning.
However, if I am quick I can click the padlock icon which briefly appears, and view the VeriSign certificate details:-
-------------------------------------------
Certificate Information
This certificate is intended for the following purpose(s):
.Ensures the identity of a remote computer
* Refer to the certification authority's statement for details. Issued
to: web.orange.co.uk
Issued by: www.verisign.com/CPS Incorp.by Ref. LIABILITY
LTD.(c)97VeriSign
Valid from 13/01/2010 to 14/01/2011
---------------------------------------------
This shows that certificate is NOT out-of-date!
However, that report does not reveal the detail of the checking process, which seems to require a quick response between taking a snapshot of the certificate, and then comparing with the target's reference data.
This lead me to finding a work-around, which mostly works. It is possible of course, if unsafe, to simply ignore the warning and proceed regardless, but if instead I simply click go-back in IE7, and retry straight away, the system almost always validates the certificate without any problem.
This is necessary both during log-in, and later, when logging-out.
I can access other secure websites, such as bank accounts, credit cards, etc, etc, without any problem at all.
Only with Orange is there always a significant delay (of between 3 and 10 or more seconds).
B) Access problems
==============
For the last few weeks the webmail system has been very very slow to respond to instructions.
That is, for each instruction such as changing view from Inbox to Junk or Deleted folders, there is first of all a delay before anything happens (from 3 to 10 seconds, or in recent days several tens of seconds), and then the data rate (reported by NetMeter) is only about 20KB/s, in very short bursts, with long gaps between bursts.
Please note that I can open another instance of IE7 whilst waiting and run speedtest which is usually in the range 350KB/s to 500KB/s.
Process Explorer shows the CPU to be almost entirely idle, and the hard disk inactive, during these delays.
My system details
============
Toshiba Qosmio laptop
1.7GHz
2GB memory
Windows XP sp2
Internet Explorer 7
Outlook Express 6
Kaspersky 2009
Sysinternals Process Explorer
ISP: IDNet
Router: Netgear DG834PN
(the above are fully and regularly updated)
Finally, I have no problem in accessing directly using Outlook Express, but I don't then have the benefit of the Orange pre-filtering of spam, nor the value of webmail access when not at home.

Thank you for your offer, Andy.
I don't quite understand your relationship with both "O r a n g e" and www.maccodes.co.uk - could you explain?
Everywhere on this orangeproblems site where the word Orange is typed (*without* the spaces I deliberately introduced in my previous sentence), it ends up as an alias for maccodes site!

At least the 404 problem seems to have gone away for the time being, for both my email identities, as I found when I was able to collect recent emails this morning (phew!)
1) - but for how long?
2) - why does it happen?
Have just had another go at accessing o.r.a.n.g.e webmail using Firefox, instead of Internet Explorer 7, after updating it to latest version v3.6.6.
Noticed that progress with downloading kept halting with status message at the bottom of the window showing:
"Waiting for js.wanadoo.co.uk"
Kept prodding the re-load button, and eventually system relented, and I was able to access both my o.r.a.n.g.e identitiies and view and manage my backlog of mail briskly and without problem!
Not sure if it will last, but a great relief, and a reminder that it *is* a good system when it works as intended!
