The response I got from 0range regarding tweaking the SRNM was that unless the DLM picked up on too many errors then the tweak would (most likely) be ignored.
That certainly seems the case for me but then I've had no DLM issues unlike BBK.
Thanks i was thinking the noise margin was high, just checked again and it has gone down to 10db but everything else is the same

speed test
the woman said the dlm was checking my line etc had it on for about 7 days then turned the router off-which she could tell me about,so now its been on for 9 days more and nothing has changed except the noise level gone lower, she was supposed to phone me tonight but friday must be a busy time in india.
I am now getting half the speeds on speedtest than i was getting when i origonally complained,
On sidepoint i have seen people saying there line test say they can only get 7 meg etc but when move to other isps they are getting 12 meg
is this true-my line test said 7.5 meg but when ive done speed tests in the past (before this trouble) i was getting 8.5 to 9 meg
anyway thanks for the help.

speak of the devil-just posted about no change the my router reset or re syncs
after bang on 9 days solid
unreal-now the noise margin has gon to 14db and attainable speed gone lower

seems the dlm has kicked in on my line finally after 16 days-7 days then turned router off then 9 days but speeds are not changing but i did notice the noise db changing every so many hours with it resycing, and ADSL2+ has gone to ADSL anyone know how much longer ive got to let it do this, the woman was supposed to phone me back friday and hasnt and ive no number for her -wonder if i phone up 118 and ask for Orange india i will prob get a curry house in blackpool

If the DLM has started doing it's job I'd leave the router on permanently.
The way the DLM controls your speeds is by the Noise Margin, which in your case is very odd as you've a lower SRNM than the lowest profile the DLM has access to (ie 10dB) .
I remember when the DLM first worked for me I was switching between modes so that might be nothing to worry about.
After 3 weeks at a slightly better speed I lost connection (I think I put my mobile to close to the router when I was transfering pictures) and now it's back to -
DSL Status: UP
DSL Modulation Mode: ADSL2+
DSL Path Mode: INTERLEAVED
Downstream Rate: 6848 Kbps
Upstream Rate: 1021 Kbps
Downstream Margin: 10 db
Upstream Margin: 7 db
Downstream Line Attenuation: 27
Upstream Line Attenuation: 17
Downstream Transmit Power: 0
Upstream Transmit Power: 0
Now the second line support are messing me about doing line tests that show no faults and I was told today that they can't do anything else unless it drops below 5Mbps!
I changed packages back in October and had 4 months at 8.8Mbps, I'm now on a slower speed than when I was on the 8Mbps tariff!
They're phoning me back next week, if there is no improvement and they tell me there is nothing more they can do I'm closing the account and if they take the outstanding contract fees I'll take them to the small claims court to get it back!
I'm thinking of moving to BT on the basis that if there is any trouble with the line it's their line and they have to sort it out.
Found some different firmware for my router, 4 year old firmaware, and have given it it a try. There seems to be some improvement, although it could be just because I reset the router.

Hello i have noticed some changes on some peaples speeds i have some new speeds aswell, router stats show
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 3808 kbps 589 kbps
Line Attenuation 61.0 db 31.5 db
Noise Margin 4.8 db 14.0 db
using a netgear dg834g router and some playing around with the noise margin managed to get this now downloads are round about 3.3-3.4mb good to me now!!!!
Been like this for 2-3 weeks even on that noise margin thank god the dlm seems not to mind it!!!

I see your attenuation jumped from 27 to 31 with the change of router - what is it btw.
A complete reset like that could change the stats I guess but what I find strange is that with your current attenuation using my Netgear DGN2000 I could get 14.3Mbs.
I'm currently tweaking my SRNM giving me approx 17meg and the DLM doesn't interfere , and I'm told that providing my errors are low then it won't. I've been doing this over 6-8weeks now.
I'd suspect that the router you've just used is a non-Broadcom chipset one otherwise you'd get some higher speeds. Netgear DG834g V4 are a good alternative with modded firmware , as is my DGN2000.

Yep , the DLM doesn't seem overly concerned about the tweaking , providing your errors are low. If you dropped the SRNM much lower I suspect you'd get errors that would cause the DLM to jump in and that's to be avoided at all costs!.

With my own tweak at 8.9.
However all the tweak does is to raise the max speed attainable! It does NOT raise my actual speed! It did a few weeks ago but I think Orange have put a max cap on my line of 12 meg and I cannot tweak it any higher.
I did run at 15+meg for a few days without any problems until Orange did something to my line to stop me from doing it again!
yeah tinytim so far there has been no error's hope things go perfect for once,as BT stating my download speed would be max of 3.5 at least i can say for where i live i do get that!!!

It's a Linksys 354G v1. A friend, who went to cable, gave it to me when I found the Siemens router Orange gave me wouldn't work with Routerstats.
My noise margin graph has been all over the place since the new firmware but seems to be settling down now. At first it was noticeable but the connection never dropped long enough to get the "Web page cannot be displayed" message and now I only know of the connection dropping to 0kps when I look at the Routerstat graphs. Hopefully this will continue to improve (at the time of writing this there has been one brief dip to 0 but otherwise the line has been solid at 8dbs).
