I pay £12.99 each month for Broadband plus from Orange that i believe is a 2MB speed!
Usually its ok for what i need!, browsing, email & streaming vids etc but over the last 3 weeks, it has been really slow.
It seems to affect certain sites more than others, like hotmail, logging in & out & not so bad streaming on youtube!
The 2 little tv's in bottom right of taskbar light up then go dim & sometimes it takes 2 clicks on a link to open the tab & start the page loading!
Can anyone tell me if there is a problem in my area with Orange (South Yorkshire) or give me any advice on how i can speed things up!
I was with homestarter but they didn't have normal rate tech assistance whereas BBplus was standard rate so i thought the extra few £ was worth it for piece of mind but now the slow speed & i dunno what to do!!
I work for Orange and would like to offer my help.
If you can email your landline number/broadband account number and best contact number to customer.services@orange.co.uk, I'll give you a ring to discuss.
So I can pick up your mail quickly, please add 'Jonathan Orange Response' in the first line.
Ok Jonathan, i've sent the email with 'Jonathan Orange Responce' in the subject field!
Thanks

A warning about responding to the Orange employee, Jonathan, who is posting on these forums.
I am one of the Inverness residents whose broadband was cut off from 24 Feb - 5 March with no explanation.
This happened again around 27 March, then again around April 5.
So I posted here, and then I contacted "Jonathan Orange Response".
Don't worry about him not being a genuine Orange employee: the problem is that he is a genuine Orange employee.
Let me explain.
He replied to me, telling me that my outage was due to a broken cable in my area.
Fair enough.
He told me, though, that I would be contacted by a "specialist team" within 48 hours. Well, I've been waiting a week for that.
He also told me he would credit £24 compensation for poor service to my account.
This was not done.
What he did instead was, he posted me a "replacement Livebox" for some reason.
I had never had, or wanted, a Livebox, I use my own router and back-up modem (I had to start doing that when the original Orange router never worked).
So now I have a Livebox sent to me by "Jonathan" (at least he authorised it to be sent to me on 7 April, when he was supposed to be sending me a refund...)
A letter came with the Livebox telling me I have 28 days to return "the unwanted bits"...I assume he means the old Livebox which I never had?
The letter says "It's really important that you send everything back to us within the next 28 days or we will have to charge you £100 to cover the cost of your replacement Livebox (as its only on loan to you) and that's something neither of us wants to happen."
So now I have to go to the inconvenience of lugging their Livebox I never ordered, to a Post Office not near here...with always the very good chance that these imbeciles will end up charging me that £100 I don't owe...you know...just for something to do at Orange Headquarters on a Friday afternoon...
So, that's "Jonathan Orange Response" for you...now you will know what to expect if you reply to his frequent posts here...give him my regards.
Hi mikelion78, I have dropped you an email apologising about the Livebox and the call. The credit was actually applied on 6 April, as I have mentioned in the mail.
To horsefeathers - I am just waiting for your email to be sent over from the email team. I understand about the router don’t worry, I won’t be sending out any more random equipment!
ok thanks, its getting beyond a joke now as for a month its been worse than dial up & takes up to 20 mins just to logout of a site like hotmail.
please let me know when some action can be taken & i can get back to my normal speed. I only use pc for browsing, email etc & the odd bit of streaming so my 2mg speed should be enough for me but this is ludicrous!!
ok, so the guy from Orange called & suggested that i take away the extension from my pc (upstairs) to the phone socket (downstairs) as this may be the reason!, even though i have had this connection for 3 years!!
There is no difference!
It seems that when i go online, all seems ok for a few minutes & then gradually goes downhill!!
I was told that i'm getting at least 4mg speed even though on BB+ i'm only supposed to get 2!
I'm unsure what to do next!!?
