Im fed up with this crap service or should I say NO service - BYE BYE WANADOO/ORANGE - youve lost a customer - Im going to BT in 2 weeks
Snap, I cancelled last week and have also now signed up with BT, got some great new deals. Wanadoo/Orange really should think about how they treat customers, I was so disappointed in them and their total lack of care. Hope to be online with BT in 2 weeks, been off now for over a month courtesy of Wanadoo and their LLU fiasco.

Having been a Freeserve/Wanadoo/Orange customer for around 5 years, I cancelled my account with them last Tuesday and signed up with BT. That will be activated by this Tuesday. I'd been on the 512k uncapped with Wanadoo until I was upgraded 2 weeks ago and that's where my problems began. I was being disconnected every evening after 6pm - their excuse was a faulty line - then they blamed my equipment Funny it was working fine before the "upgrade" which made me feel like I was back on dial-up.
Bye bye Orange...I wish I could say "it's been nice"....
Explained that I couldn't continue to wait while BT are offering 3x the speed I'm currently getting, the bloke on the phone didn't try to talk me out of it...
I've been with Freeserve/Wanadoo/orange since August 1999 on a trust dialup...it'll be sad to go but if they can't provide the same service then au revoir mes Orange chums!
Found out that when I asked for a MAC code so I could enquire with BT, orange actually cancelled my account.
So by yesterday when I was wondering why I couldn't connect, I rang them and they confirmed it, saying "your account has now been closed so you can got to another ISP".
Wrong! - BT advised me that there is a lock on my phone number for 2 weeks from Orange cancelled my account and they are unable to do anything about it, so I have to wait until July 11th before I can apply with another ISP.
Annoying as I have read people on this forum complaining they can't cancel accounts and my one was!
I rang Orange again and spoke to a helpful bloke, who admitted there wasn't anything that he could really do, except give me the address of Orange Customer Care, which probably by the time I do get a reply, I'll be with another ISP.
So I have to make do with dial up at home until then....
Technically nothing can be done, you have to wait. The broadband is being removed from the line and it's ordered with BT and takes roughly 10 days to go through.
I, too, have had enough. I have today asked Orange for my MAC key. They said it would be e-mailed to me in 48 hours. Let's see!
In the meantime, I can't decide whether to go to PlusNet or BT.
Does anyone have any thoughts on these?
Thanks in advance.
Geoff
PlusNet have had alot of problems recently, (such as deleting customers email) however they do seem to be very quick to admit fault and get issues fixed
I finally phoned Orange today to cancel my account and migrate to BT. I was transferred to someone who asked me why I was leaving. I said it was because the line kept going down and 'support' had been useless.
He told me they could almost certainly solve the problem by sending me a Livebox, which would work better than my Speedtouch modem. There would be no charge for the Livebox and the new account would cost no more - and might cost less.

I agreed to give it a go.
Is there a catch here?
Geoff
yep! livebox comes with a 12 month contract, so unless you plan to stay with Orange(god help you!!!!)
...they tried that one with me when they cut off....sorry... 'upgraded' my connection, as this would 'fix it' .
Needless to say it didn't as the connection has been physically cut somewhere.
I told them to stuff it, I suggest you do the same. The Livebox is just a router (hardwired for Orange), and not a very good one either
