Been doing some research about my line,i live in shildon,co.durham north england and according to my live box stats my attenuation is 59db.
Working it out according to the db line is.3 km long. But when i spoke to a BT engineer,he should me the way the telephone wireing went round shildon to my house and only works out at 3.1km long.
So after doing my calculation's of 3.1km works out about just over 2miles of cable to my house.
Now with that lenth of line even on the web site that works your speed out from here http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/max...alc.php,it should be about 50db which as i am on a llu network and on the 20mb contract,i should be pushing through at about 5mb max,i can have 3.5mb max on BT's adsl max network.
So i wouldering if Orange are not doing what they should be or BT has got it all wrong, personally i thing it would be Orange cause in the past when i was on the 8mb contract backin 200/2009/ i was downloading at speed's of 4/5/and 6 mb at times.
My profile on them years was 7mb now my profile on my line now is 3 mb
Anybody got any idea's about this and what can i do to get them speeds back as i had 2 years ago, orange don't seem to care about, spoke to them about it.
Here is what my router stats are at the moment
ADSL firmware version : A2pBT009c1.d17d
Connection mode : ADSL2+
Type : Fast
Noise margin (dB) : 10.4
Attenuation (dB) : 59.5
Attainable download rate (kbps) : 3228
ADSL status : Connected [0]
Downstream Upstream
Rate (kbps) 3138 605
This is giving me a push through at the mo. off 2.69mb

You need to plug the LiveBox directly into the test socket on the BT master box, that's assuming you have the type where the lower half can be removed. This'll rule out any internal wiring issues & see what your real attenuation is.
When going to the ASDL2+ connection your attenuation will have increased by about 3dB anyway.

So presumably you mean that there's a filter plugged in and the ADSL cable & phone line are then plugged into that. If you have the removable lower half socket (NTE5) then remove that lower half and plug the ADSL cable directly (no filter or splitter) into the socket that you then see. Obviously this means you're without a phone temporarily.
What you could then do is plug a phone directly into the same socket & do a quiet line test. That's dialling 17070 and option 2. Ideally you should use a corded non-digital phone. You should hear no noise otherwise you phone BT & complain about a noisy line - never mentioning broadband - and see what they'll do.
tryed that, simaliar results on attenuation and downstream.
yes the bottom half of the net5 plate has already gone, but even so if BT is stating on about peaple line and what speed it handle sure Orange should be able to give 3.5mb download speed anyway, when i'm on a llu network.
