After months and months of problems with Wanadoo/Orange broadband I decided to leave for BT. As the line was on LLU the MAC code was not appropriate for migration to BTs standard broadband package. Therefore I completely cancelled my Wanadoo account and waited for the 'marker' to be removed from line (should take ~10days).
However, a month later and two phone calls to Orange and the marker remains on the line. Is there anything i'm missing? Does it make a difference that it's an LLU line i'm trying to get off?
No, they arent charging me. It's just very frustrating they still are preventing me from joining an alternative ISP. The LLU has been nothing but problematic, so I fear that clearing of the line will be also.

Hi,
Phone OFCOM on 020 7981 3040 with details to hand, and explain the situation. They'll give you a reference number and an 0800 phone number for BT Wholesale. Be prepared for a long wait for the call to be answered by BT Wholesale.
They will help you when an ISP is giving you a hard time.
Orange are not allowed to hold the line with LLU after 10 days.
They lie, give excuses and mess people about, including myself.
I have never been happier since moving to the fantastic idnet as my isp - www.idnet.net

Wish it was that easy, I'm currently on my third ISPA complaint they are dealing with Orange direct but I'm not holding out for a quick resolution, but at least they are giving it a go.
I'm trying to leave Orange (trying IDnet also), they have given me 2 MAC codes so far, BOTH have been duds. I'm heading towards 7 weeks with no broadband now. Migration should have been 10 days, it's been that long since first dud MAC code supplied. utter b@stards

Are you on LLU? If so then Orange no longer issue LLU codes as virtually no providers have a capacity at the moment to accept them. If you are on LLU then you need to close your account so that the LLU equipment can be removed from your exchange (which takes up to 10 working days), before you can register for another provider. There's no alternative.
If you are not on LLU and are on BT Ipstream then the codes should not be dud and should start with BBIP or a similar previx (but a different letter than the first B). If you have received 2 codes beginning with these letters but they have not been accepted by your new ISP then which ISP are you switching to? All codes on the Ipstream network are generic and should be compatible with any other providers using this network on a BT line.

If the LLU equipment hasn't yet been removed from your line after you have cancelled your account then this sounds like a difficult problem. If you have been given a number for BT Wholesale then get in touch with them or Orange regarding the problem so that their escalations team can look into it.
I have a number for BT -0800-1690934.If you tell them that you are in dispute with your ISP and that you have been waiting for a tag/marker to be removed from your line they will probably do that for you straight away
I had the same problem when Orange upgraded my account to LLU which caused endless problems. In the end I had to cancel my account ,this was done on 16 August and on 7 September I managed successfully to get Broadband working with another ISP.
Good luck
