OK majority of you are or have experienced the same problems, but I still have no broadband internet and I'm completely piddled off for keep phoning technical support - who don;t seem to have a clue what they are doing.
Can anyone advise me of what I should do?
I'm seriously considering changing to another ISP but will I still have the same problems? I've been debating this for months but really enough is enough.
I've been with Freeserve and Wanadoo from day one. Orange took over and upgraded me (8mb which is actually 6.6mb) on June 26, nothing but problems since. My advice is ditch them as I'm about to. There are are a lot cheaper ones out there who may be as bad as Orange or not, so do as I'm doing. I'm giving TalkTalk a go they might be as bad as Orange (I dont know yet) but even if they are I'll be saving £28.99. Look at this forum, make the move Goddess.

Hi Goddess
I would ditch em i also was with them from the freeserve days but had so much trouble with them chance after chance to fix it £10 reduction in my broadband package and free months but theres no point in having it cheaper and still having problems CS and TS is a total waste of time and money calling them (although the odd one can be very knowledgable but rare) There are much better ISP's out there i found a good one only 1 month contract fast speeds and free CS, do some research ( it will avoid jumping out the frying pan into the fire) and find one that will suit you theres good reviews of them here you will see ratings and reviews and comments about each one, Orange doesn't rate very good .

Good Luck

Hi Steve,
I'm in full agreement, six weeks of non existent broadband or Support. even on VIP list , it's just as crap. I'm currently trying to switch to IDnet, though MAC code supplied by Orange seems to be invalid - did you have eny problems with this? I've just got another one, but am losing all hope
Cheers
Can you describe your problem in detail? Only then can I take a call. If you are LLU, things are difficult to switch.....

Hi there
Yes i had an LLU MAC which IDNet accepted it took 12 days without downtime i also had to write a complaint to the ISPA on there website to get the MAC in the 48 hrs they tried to fob me off saying it wud take 10 days and kept hanging up on me so once i done the complaint my MAC was in my inbox 2 hrs later plus later i got a letter off a nice lady at Orange who made sure once my migration was complete wud make sure they never carried on charging me , dont let em fob u off and make it awkward for you to go write a complaint to the ISPA http://www.ispa.org.uk/cgi-bin...laints.cgi hope u get it sorted tell them about the invalid MAC they gave u its a habit of theres.
Good luck let me know how u get on with ur new MAC
Steve
btw it is not difficult to switch with an LLU MAC it just takes a few days longer IDNet accept them willingly it is Orange making it difficult for you its disgraceful.

I seem to have been in permanent downtime since 17th July when the 'fun' began. After weeks of no service, and no help from Orange, I asked for a MAC code, which VERY surprisingly they supplied next day seemingly without a fuss.
After nearly a week I get contacted by IDNet who say that "BT have been unable to migrate as the supplied MAC code cannot be located on any system or linked to any broadband order".
On contacting Orange again (direct to Customer care, not the other 0870 nbr), they supplied a new one within an hour or so(though protesting the original was ok).
So fingers crossed this should be ok. My real worry is the 'upgrade' that caused all my problems in the first place has resulted in me being completely unplugged as far as ADSL goes, and therefore cannot migrate, and will have to connect 'anew' with all the associated startup fees.
I've complained twice to ISPA over the past 6 weeks, though can't say it's come to very much, the second especially.
I'm in the awkward situation now of being between ISPs, receiving no service, and Orange are due to collect subs on my account....they wouldn't dare ...would they

Hi again
They have a cheek taking the money off you when you have no service if they are still taking money out of your account then your Orange broadband account must be active, i was upgraded in december last year to LLU 8meg from 2Mb the fastest speed i got was 2.5 ish (when i was able to connect) its a farce.
IDNet was brilliant my migration took longer there was some glitch on BT's part so instead of 10 days it took 12 IDNet kept me up to date via emails and phone calls then on the day my Orange connection dropped and i logged in with my new username and password and i was connected at 1 meg as they cant put u straight on to 8Mbs the next day my connection dropped for 2 seconds and back on and it was upgraded to ADSLMax 8Mb been no problems since even thru the 10 day line training period im now enjoying average speeds of between 5 and 6.7 Mbs.
Hope this attempt is successful for you let me know
Regards
Steve

Just got update from IDnet, the second MAC code is a dud too. ISPA are investigating.
Just checked by Account, apparently my 'fee' for this month is covered by:
Goodwill Offer 01/09/2006 - 30/09/2006 -£ 27.99
...er not charging me for a non existent service??? how kind!
So what about the cost of my dial up???
As it's the weekend I guess nothing more will happen (not that anything has in the last 7 weeks anyway)
If I don't hear anything positive on the MAC code front from ISPA, I'll just cancel completely...get the smell of Orange off my line once and for all whatever the cost.
