Just logged on to see if my router had done anything, it resynced at just past 7:15pm to the following:
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 11466 kbps 945 kbps
Line Attenuation 31.8 db 15.5 db
Noise Margin 11.1 db 15.5 db
So a downgrade by the DLM. Probably because of the evening extra noise on the line. Will probably resync higher tomorrow morning when noise is not so evident, external noise I may add.
To catch up with the latest that has been posted, well after weeks of 1meg, the DLM upped my speed from 1 meg to 2 meg, 2 days later, up to 4 meg, then it got stuck. During my 1 meg weeks, I was told by Orange that the DLM would do its job straight away many times, but eventually Orange admitted that they did not know when it would start, it could take days, weeks etc, they had no idea! So even though they set the DLM up on your line, it could take a while before it upped your speed.
When I became stuck on 4 meg for a week, I enquired and was told that the DLM looks at 36 hours worth of data and based on the stats gathered may up your speed if it thinks the conditions were right. However I was told that the DLM was having trouble determining this 36 hours worth of data and hence my profile had become stuck. Not happy with this I asked for a manual profile, which I eventually got. Then afer that the DLM regraded me due to it not happy with what should have been normal external noise on the line and I had went back to 4 meg, I got another manual profile of 12 meg set up again, after a battle!
So if you are on 1 meg, orange will tell you just to wait for the DLM to kick in, this may take days, weeks. When it does, it may upgrade you, it may become stuck. What version of the DLM is running at the moment, I wouldn't have a clue.
However we do know that major changes had to be made to the DLM software and we assume this is to get rid of the DLM's tendency to downgrade at the minimum of things and also to upgrade lines quicker and more sensibly. It is these changes I reckon that will be introduced in 2 weeks time. Whether they will work, some of us will no doubt find out.
So with the DLM at the state it is in at the moment, it is very unlikely, based on my experiences, to put your line up to what the max it should be.
You are therefore better off, getting the executive office to push for a manual profile to be put on your line while Orange wait for the new version of the DLM to be implemented.
DO NOT ACCEPT ANY OTHER EXCUSE, INSIST ON A MANUAL PROFILE.
This will be the only way Orange can guarantee you will be put on your max speed, do not rely on the DLM at the moment and do not allow Orange to fob you off.
This week if you stick to your guns, I expect you to get Orange to put your line on a manual profile, it will take up to 24 hours when the request is put in. Then hopefully you can post your new line stats and at least get the speed you are paying for. THIS IS THE ONLY WAY FOR NOW THAT YOU WILL GET YOUR LINES UPGRADED.
So good luck and remember do not take NO for an answer, get that manual profile implemented!
Email sent to the executive office asking for a manual profile on my line. A very fair, polite and informative email, so I am hoping for a reply ideally today.

it would be interesting to know his success ratio... im guessing at about 50%
jonathan?????....
It's actually hard to say whether Jonathan did help much, maybe DLM sorted it itself anyway.
BUT to me the important thing was that I felt that someone WAS trying to help unlike those offshore and that I had contact with someone in the UK who was bothered.

Not sure about that.
The Response Team (in their various disguises but usually signed Jonathan) did once, about a year ago, make a promise to post back with their success rate.
Any replies from the exec office for anyone?
Any updates? Any manual profiles put in place?
Latest for me is that my new router was on 12 meg all day yesterday, it has just resynced itself a few mins ago, could be DLM, to slighty less than the 12 meg figure but I would still class it as 12 meg.
