I recently switched packages with Orange and they have supplied me with a Gigaset SE572 router. Since swirtching packages I have been having speed problems and have needed to log on to the router. This works OK for about 6 times but after that I cannot log on to the router and just get a message saying The login user number is overtop!! . I can find virtually no information on this router and would like to know what this message means. I suspect it means that I have logged in too many times without logging off, but the only way of logging of is to let the session time out. I have done this but still get the message. The only way I can get back into the router is to switch it off and on. But Orange have advised me not to do this as it is a possible cause of my speed reduction problem! Does anyone know how to stop this router from locking me out?
It sounds like a passkey conflict. If you have WPA set then change it to WEP and try again.
But before you do power cycle the router :
shut down pc, allow to shut down completely then
switch off router,
wait at least 30 seconds,
power on the router and allow it to establish connection,
then power on the computer.
Thanks for the reply but I don't think I explained the problem very well. Its not that I cannot connect to the router for normal usage i.e. either via a wired connection or wireless, all that works ok. The problem is when I try to log onto the router for admin purposes via its web setup page it only works about half a dozen times before producing the The login user number is overtop!! message. I then get no login screen and so cannot administer the router. At ths point the router is still working normaly in every other respect. I have disable the wireless lan as I don't use it but this makes no difference to getting locked out of the admin login screen.

Thanks for your help but I know what I am doing wrong. I have been letting my session on the router time out after 10 mins of non use. This ought to be the same as logging off but it isn't. If I log off manually I don't get the error message.

Hi newpooler,
I work for Orange and may be able to help.
If you can email your landline/account number and best contact number to me I'll look into this for you.
Please contact me at customer.services@orange.co.uk and also add 'Jonathan Orange Response' in the first line, so the mail can be picked up quickly.
i now have the same issue, my router page has been fairly active in the last few days and now shows the same mesage.
i understand i can power cycle to restore access to the page but in light of the information regarding DLM, is it actually wise to restart your router at all???

Dabel, from what a lot of people believe DLM only kicks in once every 24 hrs, mine just after midnight. That's when you need to be connected. Orange have system they can look at which shows them all the DLM activity on your line. called LUKO I remember - see the "downgraded" post in the up to 20 meg theme.
