I work for a small telecoms provider and have been privy to some interesting news relating to the changeover to century 21 and the ADSL2+ upgrade.
We use Viatel as one of our providers for BB and they are a pretty good outfit to work with but they are changing their customers over to the century 21 network with BT. A good idea I suppose as eventually everyone will be on it but BT have dropped the ball as usual and the DLM is choking everybodys connection and BT don't know how to fix it. The result is people with 3meg or higher connections going through upgrade and then ending up with 2meg or less afterwards. The problem is that the DLM sees so many errors from the users site (probably due to the Victorian cable network) that it eventually puts a cap on the connection, which can be screwed down even further if it sees more errors.
The answer is to wait until BT have resolved the DLM issue .
