My guess is my line speed will stop around 8 meg, probably less and Orange tech will tell me that is the best they can do! Which of course will be incorrect but as everything is outside their control, nothing I can do about it if I decide to keep with Orange.

And going to o2 (now Sky) Access would be an absolute disaster. You'd be worse of than you are now.
Stop fretting about your max speed for now. I was originally showing 10meg and I seem to recall that that had dropped a little during "stabilisation" but now I'm up to just under 13meg. What you're seeing I'm sure is a transient situation.
After all this waiting I just want things to be right, as you can understand.
Yes I could leave Orange and forget all about it. But I think a company such as Orange should be putting things right. If I get my speed up to 12.5 meg and it holds it there, I will still be writing a letter to their chief exec. asking him to look into the matter personally with regard to this terrible DLM process. So that other customers do not have to suffer weeks of slow broadband! Something needs to be done so this does not happen again. Yes everyone could leave Orange and they would certainly feel the pinch but I am of the mindset that I would like Orange to put things right for all their customers. not just me. I know there will be people suffering with slow speeds right now and no doubt many more in the future. But Orange need to be told to put right this awful DLM procedure they employ. Without the customer, they would not exist, some might say that is a good thing, but if a company like Orange cannot learn from this sorry saga, then yes they have no hope and do not deserve their customers. I do hope that they learn and I for one will be following up with letters to their chief exec.
As for my own personal situation, well it has been well over 32 hours since the DLM upped my speed to 2meg. It really should have moved it up by now but I will see what it is like in the morning.
Still on the 2meg profile, only thing that has changed is that my SNRM has gone up to 30, giving a possible max speed on the line as 11780.
What the DLM is playing at god knows.
But unlike the DLM on TinyTim's line, the DLM on mine looks like it is stuck in 1st gear!

Looks like I've been pretty fortunate with my line what with the progressive daily speed increases to what I thought was my max & then 2 further 1meg jumps. I do get variations in speed of some 400Kb occasionally but when it's a difference between 12.4meg & 12.9 meg it's not really significant.
I sent an email off to Tom Alexander detailing my case , the purpose of which was to help 0range understand what's going wrong. I did include the problems that are being detailed on this forum not just my own. So far I've received a response from a Darren Gray who's going to look into it and get back to me. Maybe something will come from it.
Where to start...... I too have had nothing but problems with Orange on this issue. I connected on the home select package on the 11th December with a 0.8 mb connection, after being quoted 9mb thought it was a great deal, after dealing with o2 (now Sky) access. Rang them straight away to tell them there was a problem but was reassured that after 10 days the dlm would settle the connection up to 9mb[they didnt mention you have 7 days to cancel the contract]. To cut a long long story short it stayed at 0.8 until yesterday when it hit 2mb same as you bbk, i thought gr8 here we go woke up today expecting it to go up to 4 mb, nothing, then i get a call from Orange saying my line could olny handle 2 mb and it wouldnt be increasing :?ummm 2 weeks ago they said the same thing that it could handle 1 mb, then there was a fault on my line, then there wasnt,so i asked why if my noise margin was low and after checking on kitz my line could handle up to 11mb, why it was stuck on 2mb, no awnser,I demanded a MAC key was put through to someone else who now says they going to turn on the dlm this afternoon and this should budge it in the next 10 days lol now ive heard that before in the 40 odd calls ive made and recieved from Orange. Ive given them 10 days then im off.Shame really cos apart from Talk Talk they the olny llu service in my area. If anyone reads this with same problems and they try offer to put you through to escalations dont bother they know nothing about the technical side, the fault line management team seem to go round in circles and not even sure whats going on themselves. Rant over, fingers crossed.
Forget to mention that a very helpful lady from escalations told me that 1st that i couldnt have a MAC code after 6 weeks of dial up like speeds because once your in a contract with Orange and they are providing you a service you are bound by contract because the estimated speed they give you is ony estimated and if your connected even at 1mb basically tough ****.
Thought it was switched on all the time aswell, finding it hard to believe what they saying at the min, i think most of it is just to fob you off, but was told it was being turned on this afternoon and it updates every 2 hours, i thought that bit was intresting after being under the impression it went up after every 24 hours. Like i say probably fobbed off. If it goes up will update here, not holding my breath though. Worst company ive ever dealt with by far and having been on o2 (now Sky) access thats saying a lot lol.

Hi Kernow
I left o2 (now Sky) Access 2 weeks earlier than you and like you only have TalkTalk & 0range as LLU options.
During the time I was at 1meg (about 4 weeks) I was repeatedly told that my line would only cope with 2 or 3 meg - seemed to depend on time of day or phase of the moon etc.
Unlike you once DLM kicked in I was being ramped up on a daily basis so it looks like DLM doesn't work well at all and as for being on or off I'm not sure I believe they have any control over it.
As for getting out after 6 weeks or so I'm not sure that shouldn't be a problem as you signed up based on a line test or verbal quote that you'd get a certain speed , albeit an estimate.
Now if you're quoted 9meg but get 7 - 8meg then there's no real justification in a complaint. But with 1-2meg then there's no question that doesn't fulfil the contract & the ISPA would be fully behind you.
