Hi there, I work for Orange and might be able to help.

I'm having the same problem as the OP; around 2 months ago my peak time connection speed dropped into the gutter. I'm also mainly using the connection for online gaming. Curious if a solution to this was found?
Only solution i could come up with was changing supplier -- i even replied to the "support" post aove, quoting all of my details,,,, and i recieved NO reply at all !!!!!!
i have changed to an LLU supplier -- it seems as thought all non-LLU suppliers are having some probs atm, there are quite a few problems on the o2 (now Sky) "Access" package as well,,,, i am just glad that i was able to swap to an unbundled supplier.....
Hi
I had been with Orange, wanadoo, freeserve for years, the last 12 months peak time gaming was a joke. Tried pingtest.net my ping to Coventry were 382!!! and 120 jitter. Orange helpdesk did not improve performnce. In the end i realised that improvement with Orange at the moment is impossible, they are quiet simply at or beyond the volume they can handle and seem unwilling or unable to afford more bandwidth/service supply.
After many months of help i gave up.
Switched to 02 on LLU at my exchange on Monday, AHH the relief. Pings now to Coventry at peak times 30ms with 1ms jitter. In fact i pinged New Zealand and had better results than with Orange to Milton Keynes
Gaming now back to as i remember it used to be in the good old days.
My advise to anyone GIVE UP ON Orange, switch to an LLU supplier and save yourself hassle with a bit of luck, Orange wont or cant currently improve peak time performance so move on.
I have been with the same isp (wanadoo - orange) for years.
As soon as Orange took it over the customer service and quality of connection went into decline. Even as we speak I am trying to get the problem with peaktime service sorted. They insist on wasting my time with line tests and hardware checks, yet how can this be part of the problem when my service is good EXCEPT between 6 - 10pm every evening? Poor show Orange - does your reputation or integrity mean nothing to you?

As we all know the offshore tech support is pretty useless and just read from the same script all the time.
The problem is that you're on a BT IPStream connection and 0range , along with many other ISPs , just haven't bought enough bandwidth from BT. It is really expensive for them to do that.
The only improvement you'll see is by switching to another ISP that can provide a better service in your exchange. If you've any LLU ISPs then they're the best bet.
Same game, WoW, 50-100 ping all day, then at 7pm-10pm every night without fail, I get 1000+ ping, unplayable. It used to be alright, maybe 300 ping, but now it's a joke.
Why do they even cap games like WoW? It uses like 10kb/s, right now I can even download files at 500kb/s, so it really does make no sense.
