I have noticed 3 times this afternoon, my router has automatically resynched, lost my connection for around 30 seconds, no speed difference yet.
Can't remember whether you are running Routerstats.....thread's now too long to go looking
( http://www.vwlowen.co.uk/inter.../files.htm ).....it'll graphically show the SNRM movements as well as sync rate.
The O router I'm using is a Siemens Gigaset SE572 WLAN dsl. Supplied by O.
When I went onto the 8 meg service they sent me a livebox but I never used it. I used to use a Linksys WAG 354G because it has 4 ethernet ports and I used to connect 2 pcs through the box and have 2 laptops on wireless. This latest router (Siemens) only has 1 ethernet port so I've a spare computer that is not now connected.
I suspect there may be something about routers that is an issue. When I was changed to the 20 meg [sic] service before the new siemens router turned up I carried on using my Lynksys. It was a pig to get it to connect, having up to 6 attempts wheras on the previous up to 8 meg service it was straight in. So part of me thinks that was what caused my speed collapse as the DLM though the line was crap so pushed the max speed limit down.
I must say that I think there is no connection between what your account says you can get and the real limit applied to the line. I suspect it's coming from different systems. I,ve now noticed my speed dropping again though so here we go again!
i still have ongoing with Orange...i do have my MAC code..and looking at options
orange called this morning insisting 8 was highest
funny thing was he insisted i was on a 24mb profile but Max Stable Rate (MSR) was 8mb
he said it was due to noise margin being so high lol lol
i told him thats reason for slow speed if target SNR was forced at 7db id be getting 18-19mb but he didnt comprehend
im a partially qualified network engineer and when ur talikin to supposedly techs...its damn damn frustrating
I was told the same thing, noise level too high.
Yet my line is fine, they supposedly have done several tests and I am capable of around 13meg.
My snr is way too high, if they brought it down to 6db to 9db, I too would see a massive improvement but no they would rather rely on this stupid DLM software method which CLEARLY IS NOT WORKING!!!!

Would need to downgrade my router firmware to get the dmt SNR tweak to work on my speedtouch585v6. Might be worth having a go though!
I would definitely give it a go. This time last year I was getting around 160k out of my pathetic piece-o-string telephone line but with the SNR tweak I'm getting usually over 1Mbit now. I'm sure it'd do wonders on a line with your line stats. Good luck!
