Error 554 is generated when you are rejected by the recepient email server. This can happen if you are a) blkacklisted b) your ISP is blacklisted
Are you facing the problem with ALL emails or only some sites?

Hello Everyone.
I am having trouble configuring Orange.net popmail with outlook
(not outlook express).
I am able to recieve my mail in outlook without any problems at all.
Sending mail, however, is not possible for me.
This is the error message I get when trying to send mail:
Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.
Are you connected on an Orange connection when sending mail?
I just noticed 'btcentralplus' in the error message. I've got a few email accounts (with different ISPs) which I can easily receive but I can only send on the outgoing smtp server for Orange.
If this is the case, the reason is that Orange (and others) don't mind you receiving mail but want to prevent you sending SPAM messages, or at least that they are traceable as they go through their servers.

Tanks for replying so quickly guys.
i'm not using an Orange connection, my bb is supplied by B.T.
i cannot imagine why i would be blacklisted (obvously i am as btcentralplus is a mail scanning server) or how i would go about rectifying the situation!
to send emails, you need to connect through Orange service... as was explained in the earlier post, most ISP's will not let you send mails if you connect thru another service provider. It's for preventing Spam, Terror, Hate and Love as well

You will find that Orange and wannadoo, stop all traffic relating to port 25 for smtp access, that is why a lot of people that use their own email servers cannot send through them, if this is the case, contact your webhosting company (not Orange) and tell them to allow the email server to listen on a port other than 25 then configure your email server to send to that port number and everything will be fine.
i wondered about this problem for ages through clients of my own having the same problems and not being able to access their email servers, and since i have just migrated over to Orange i needed it sorting, and this worked
