I've been with Orange for about six months now and I've begun playing games online with friends. Except I hate playing competitive multiplayer, and dread it, because I die so very easily before I even spot an enemy, and my shots fail to register.
I am on 3 out of 4 bars every game and I notice when I die, I see a replay of my enemy shooting me and it seems they manage to see me way before I do, for example they turn a corner and I'm sat there a whole second before I start shooting. Yet I shot them the instant *I* saw them, and of course they k1ll me with ease. This is REALLY annoying.
Not to mention sometimes my shots fail to register and the enemy fails to die, time and time again.
I am really upset and bothered by this. I do really well at LAN parties but it bothers me that I can't enjoy a game at home anymore.
Has anyone else got something like this and how did you stop it?
I always have Three bars too. Problem is the technical support in Orange is s**t. Talktalk forums fix people's problems in a flash and will move them to fast path if somone complains of ping straight away!
I work for a big ISP.
Orange technical no nothing u need to baffle them with techie speak get put through to the escalation team and ask for interleave to be turned off.
I did yesterday - on fast path now easy xbox is sweet now - ping times of 17ms
I get so much lag when playing online at night time on my PS3, sometimes even in the day. At first I was thinking it could just be because my connection is capped because I went over my bandwidth ages ago, but it seems others are having similar problems.
Would it make a difference if I was to buy a Netgear router? I hear they're pretty good, and anything has to be better than the Livebox in terms of ethernet ports and compatability.

I replaced my livebox with a 2wire router from BT. I did notice a slight increase in my downstream speed which raised my IP profile however playing CoD in the evening is still impossible.
It's Orange throttling online gaming, and there's no away around it, unless you move to another internet provider...
Thanks for the reply, it seems pointless me buying another router then really.
Why are Orange so mean? They're like one of the worst ISP's in the UK, voted by the public, doesn't that tell them something? Dammit, I really need to convince my mum to change to Sky.
Change to Be Broadband LLU if it's available in your area, it's the farmost best gamer ISP out there and they know everything you talk of
Orange's latency is s**t because they route everything towards their own server and then to your gameserver you're connecting to meaning you'rea dding 30-50 ms and there's nothing interleaving or anything can do about it.
