Hi there,
Thank you for asking...
Well, there's been no news from me as... I've not heard from Orange! - So much for that VIP spreadsheet that Orange were very keen to tell me I was on Well, actually no news from Orange isn't perhaps exactly correct to say (make your own mind up):
Monday 31 July 206
12.47h After posting here earlier today, got fed up and decided to call Orange. Spoke to "S" (have I used an S yet?)! She told me that "IS" is not in today! I asked to speak to his manager (who I dealt with back at the beginning of the year when I had my first problem) - he is not on the floor at the moment I was told! I asked whether she could get him ("CF") to call me - yes, I will ask him to call you - "S" duly took my telephone number and broadband details.
Monday 31 July 2006
13.06h Got a call from Orange. Not "CF" as I had requested but "L" who told me that she has consulted with "CF". She told me that the engineers had "rebuilt" my connection! Could you check whether your broadband is working she asked. OK, I will let you know I said.
Checked status of broadband. Same. Flashing @ light and link down.
13.28 I phoned Orange and spoke to "RL". Left message for "L" and asked for update at 14.30
14.30 "L" called - she will call me tomorrow at 14.30 after speaking to engineers and receiving a report from them (again!)
Tuesday 01 August 2006
14.42h I received a call from Orange. "L" told me that engineers had put a reprt on the system last night and would I check my broadband connection. I was out and about at the time, so "L" told me that she would call me back at 15.30h
Checked my broadband - no difference - still down! Still flashing @ symbol!
"L" called back at 15.30 and I explained that nothing had changed.
Wednesday 02 August 2006
Spoke to "L" again. Still no change. She assured me that the engineers have rebuilt the connection and that all should be working. But obviously it isn't. She told me that she would get a technical guy to visit the premises! At no charge! But before that, they would get a technical guy to call to run through a few standard procedures first. Will get the techie guys to call you between 15.30 and 16.30h she said.
Thursday 03 August 2006
Found a message on answer-phone today - Orange techs had called - at 17.50h! There was nobody there to take the call! Obviously as I had told "L" there would not be anybody there at that time!
Friday 04 August 2006
Phoned Orange. Asked for "L" - she's not in today! "CF"? i enquired? Not in today! Joy! Explained that I had had enough. Would probably be seeking MAC code now. OK the guy said!
Monday 07 August 2006
Heard nothing from Orange. (where was my daily phone call now? - which they promised as I was on their VIP spreadsheet).
Tuesday 08 August 2006
Heard nothing from Orange. (where was my daily phone call now? - which they promised as I was on their VIP spreadsheet).
Wednesday 09 August 2006
10.46h Still have not heard anything! Still flashing @ light. Still link down!
So there you have the "latest update!"... No update!
Well, Orange, I have news for you.... But it can wait a little longer...
I wonder what the VIP spreadsheet is - I'm on it as well, but nothing seems to happen - all I get when I call is a new call logged as the previous call has been 'suspended'
I still have to call them as well - even though I get promised call backs...

I'm not entirely sure myself... Just another way to make you think they are doing something I should imagine - though it doesn't work as how long do you have to be on the VIP sheet for before anything actually gets done?
Thursday 10 August 2006
Still waiting for my call from Orange (under their terms that I am on a VIP sheet and should receive a call EVERY DAY!).
Still also waiting for tech support to ring to make a couple of checks before they send out an engineer (free of charge) to my premises!
I was told today (after calling them - where's my daily phone call?) that there are no jobs over 8 days on the VIP spreadsheet so my problem should be fixed within that timescale.
Don't know what that means with your calls admin..

Hi chorlton
Thank you for that! I shall be calling them tomorrow as I still have not heard from anyone at Orange.
I'll tell them what you have said (keeping you anonymous of course, but pointing them here!) and see what they say.
If they told you there were no jobs on the VIP sheet over 8 days (not that I do not believe you, but have to be careful how I word this!) then they are blatant liers!
I have been on their VIP spreadsheet since 27 July 2006... By my calculations, that's... 14 days!

Sorry for delay in update - been away!
OK.
The latest!
Thursday 17 August 2006
Broadband back up and running! Excellent! So exciting!
Thank you to "IS" at Orange who has been excellent in keeping me informed every day with information. There was a misunderstanding as to phone calls (see above when I was not getting any) and this was partly my fault! I apologise! "IS" has been extremely helpful.
Compensation discussed and agreed to.
Broadband is back on. I'm happy!
Wednesday 23 August 2006 approx 14.30h
Broadband not working again!!!
Oh no!
Different problem... Now have a SLOW flashing @ light.
Re-entered username and password (as this is generally an authentication issue). No broadband.
Turned off Livebox (for 15 minutes).
Turned Livebox back on - configuration pages - entered username and password - no broadband.
Back in discussions with "IS".
Until the next gripping episode of OrangeProblems...
I'm away from that particular connection right now and so can not look it up, but it was along the lines of "PPP authentication ..."
Never heard of that one before, standard messages you get with the livebox....
Link down - no exchange syncronisation,
Syncronisation in progress - take a guess,
Synconised - not logged in or attempting to log in,
PPP Server down - Syncronised but unable to contact authentication server to log in,
PPP in progress - if you see this it's usually followed by the server down message,
Invalid Authentication - wrong username or password and can indicate account problems in a few cases (closed, suspended because of billing, etc),
Connected - syncronised and logged in.
