Hope some clever person will help me with a technical problem. Escaped Orange thanks to this website and am now with Fast. Am very pleased with them. I now have a Speedtouch Modem and on occasions it won't connect. The way it has been set up is that you click the speedtouch icon on the taskbar which brings up a connection window. Usually it just connects no problem (we are talking about Broadband here) and then you click on firefox and internet appears. Just recently and particularly in the mornings it just won't connect and says connection failure - sometimes it is that the remote computer failed to respond and sometimes it just says failed to connect. We have to try for many many times until eventually it does connect. Do yout hink my settings are wrong because I thought with broadband you just clicked on Firefox or explorer straight away and up comes the internet. Please help somebody.

Hi pinkpandora
Do you have the latest drivers installed for the modem? if you do then try a fresh install of the modem, if you use a router then its always on, the SpeedTouch modem has to be manually connected each time you turn on ur pc.
Assuming you have the SpeedTouch 330 the latest drivers can be downloaded from HERE

If you get anymore problems try and post the error code it gives, should be a 4 digit number like 0691, 0633 or 0721, etc.
A remote computer error would mostly be 0718, 0720 or 0721, otherwise known as the "ppp server down" error. For modems it can be caused by drivers, sometimes setup problems or exchange issues.
I am having the same problems with my speedtouch b/b modem.
it has the manual dial-up box along with an 'event' screen.
the events report that 'all connections have been successful' but then goes on to report error 0720 : remote connection failure.
It has been an occasional error until recently, but now won't connect at all, even after several attempts.
Both the modem's lights are constant green, and I have checked the cable connections are firm.
I have been searching the internet on my work computer and found this mesage in which Elhana asks for the error code.
are you still around Elhana?
my error code is 0720.
Q: will it be possible to get speedtouch drivers down on to a mem stick to transfer to my home pc?
Q: is it possible this might be caused by a faulty cable?
after finally obtaining a connection, I used the opportunity to download the 330 driver from the speedtouch website.
I also updated windows vista to the latest patches.

I couldn't say which one had an effect, but my connection seems to be quite stable now.
would recommend this as a good fix.
