The router is synching at about maximum for an attenuation of 51dB.
If the Target SNR was taken down to the default 6dB then you may see another 500kbps if you're lucky.
ADSL2+ is not necessarily better on a line as long as yours because it uses different frequencies.
Thank you very much for the quick reply... Is this something I have an option to do or do they need to do it there end ?
Also when I was with Bethere I did get around 6mb. Also Orange said they were sending a new modem out as the livebox wouldn't work. But it seems ok upto now.
Again thanks..
O.. and to answer the upload topic.. I get 959.. sorry forgot to highlight it before

Also when I was with Be* I did get around 6mb.
You might struggle with Orange. Be are much more lenient......why did you leave for Orange With Be you could get a Target SNR of 3dB which is possibly how you got a 6Mb synch.

Again thank you for your reply. I've had a good read and I'm a little wiser maybe.. lol
You mentioned that someone is better syncing there box in the morning due to electrical interference. I was just wondering as I'm at work at the moment but can remote into my pc at home. Is there anyway to reboot / resync the live box via the http access. I have had a look through but cant see a reboot option only a disconnect / connect.
To answer your question why did I swap... Comes down to money in the end. I was paying £30 for bethere and my BT phone on top. With Orange ok I dropped 2mb but saved about £25 a month.
Sorry, I don't use a Livebox or remote access so I can't offer any advice.
It may be possible if you can telnet into the Livebox I guess.....but I'm sure I read somewhere that it's a "hacking" job
But it's always better to do it through the router GUI rather than using the on/off switch or unplugging/replugging.
I managed to save the current settings to a .dwb file to my desktop and then restored these settings. It then rebooted itself . I did see a reboot.cgi script or something address on the bottom bar for a second but I didn't see the full path sadly. Anyway.. its just rebooted now and its sync'ing at...
ADSL firmware version : A2pBT009c1.d17d
Connection mode : ADSL2+
Type : Fast
Noise margin (dB) : 10.3
Attenuation (dB) : 51.5
Attainable download rate (kbps) : 5241
ADSL status : Connected [0]
Downstream Upstream
Rate (kbps) 5209 959
So that's a bit of an improvement there
I did read about adding a serial connection to it so I can use telnet somewhere but like you said it was a strip down job.
I would also like to add... I know this is an OrangeProblems website but I've been on there ADSL package Max for a year or so and not had a single problem. There conversion over to the 20MB has so far been seamless and its just myself after a greater speed that brought me here.
So.. thank you Orange.. You at least got me right .. lol
and thank you Mr Bored... top man and great advice !
With such a long line, you will need to monitor the connection regularly.
I'm not sure if Routerstats works with Livebox but it's worth a try. It's free to download and John Owen is very helpful with its use. It's very good at monitoring the key aspects of a broadband connection.
