Is it just me or has anyone else discovered that Orange have started tagging on an advert with link to all emails routed through the Orange stmp server? Doesnt seem right as we pay for the broadband connection and email, so why should we advertise for them without a choice?
Yes it literally just happened to me! I couldn't believe it. Any email passing through their outgoing server (hence sent from my computer) gets this message added to it:
Want to find out when you can get an iPhone with Orange? Register here and we'll let you know.
It's just f*** unbelievable. As far as I'm concerned, it's a huge breach of privacy. Is there any independant watchdog we can complain to about that?
The only work around i have thought of over the last 1/2 hour since realising this was happening was to add a whole load of blank returns to the end of my personal signature, so their text doesnt appear in the email unless the receipient scrolls right down.
Not ideal, but will do until i get the MAC code to move to BT.

That does it! All my e-mails are going to be routed via my domain hosting company.
Before any bright spark mentions port 25 blocking, UK-Cheapest offers the use of ANOTHER PORT

Yes I've just noticed it too and sent an email to Orange asking them about it. Perhaps we should be asking for money as they're getting free advertising space!!
If anyone knows of a way of getting this turned OFF, could they please post it here?
In the meantime I am gradually transferring all my stuff over to andrew@********.org.uk as indicated above.
Unlike a number of users I am getting 6Mb/s+ download, everything is working well so I'm not interested in migrating BUT I am NOT going to have Orange interfere with my e-mails.
I phoned Orange about the advert they are sticking in to the header of out going emails, they are looking in to it!! I can ring them in 48 hours to see if they can take it off. How can they get away with that, they said tell customers not to open it in case it's not safe and has a virus.
I think they are a joke, they expect me to add in my email out (Please do not click the Orange iPhone link it may contain a virus!)
I have just spoken with support (Mumbai) on the phone. They are stating this was an error and will be resolved in 24 hours.
This still of course gives them 24 hours advertising/spamming. It is still very much illegal tampering/altering electronic communications and should result in at the very least a hefty fine from Ofcom.
