Finally got Orange to admit they are capping my connection, it has only taken about a month and numerous emails.
They have said the speed is capped between 6pm and 12pm each day. This is because I downloaded more than 5GB in 2 consecutive months.
Yes, 5GB a month is the fair usage policy.
The fair usage policy mentions no such limit, if I had known the limit was so low I would never have went with Orange.
I have written to my local consumer advice office who have told me I have a case against them and have been told to write to them telling them they have 14 days to rectify the situation and remove the capping otherwise I should escalate it to trading standards or the Communications and Internet Service Providers Adjudication Scheme.
Let's see what happens. I think it will end up with me switching ISP. 5 GB a month is a pathetic limit.
Ive been trying to get Orange to admit they have capped my Broadband. I have gone from a 5-6 MB BT Broadband to 1 -2 mb broadband if im lucky on Orange!!
thankfully i only have 2 months left of the contract.
good luck, thats one of the main reasons why i left them in June, although they weren't willing to admit that they were capping my speed. i had a BT engineer out checking my line and he said it was fine so i knew Orange were capping my speed.
i use my broadband for ps3/xbox online gaming and i couldn't get connected properly at night - i was being capped at less than 1mb which is pathetic.
orange are going downhill really fast. i'm also currently 13 or 14 mths into an 18 mth phone contract but i'll be cancelling that fairly soon.
going to hit them where it hits hard simply by giving them no cash at all.
